Report: Samsung's one curved screen phone next year will be a Galaxy S7 model
This year, all of the curved screen handsets released by Samsung came from the Samsung Galaxy S6 line. There was the 5.1 inch Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, and the 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. The previous year, the handset with the curved screen was part of the Galaxy Note series. The phone was called the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. A report out of Vietnam allegedly reveals what Samsung is thinking about doing for next year.

According to the report, there will be just one "edge" handset released by Samsung next year, and it will be part of the Samsung Galaxy S7 line. Samsung put the change into motion this year, when it decided to use the Galaxy S6 for its curved screen devices. There seems to be some truth to this as rumors have already circulated about two different versions of the Galaxy S7 that are currently being tested. One has a 5.2-inch screen, and the other carries a 5.8-inch display. The latter would probably be the new curved screen model for 2016.

If this is true, and Samsung drops the smaller screened "edge" model, it leaves just one question. Will it call the device with the 5.8-inch curved glass the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, or the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge+?

Thanks for the tip!

When US companies start actually making their stuff here at home, then I will consider it. But if their products are going to be made int he same country as their competitors, then I don't see a difference.

I buy Samsung right now because, they make a better product for what it costs.

If the edge is reserved for the larger models then adding the + would be redundant. It wouldn't be the worst naming scheme though.

For example, a Simple Nexus X and Nexus P sounds light years better than 5x and 6p.

Yeah, companies should start dropping the numbers and simply call them their brand names. Nexus X, Nexus P, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy Note, Apple iPhone, etc sound so much better. Plus when they start getting up to the double digits, they'll sound pretty bad.

I always use cases that go above the screen level to protect against face down drops so edge display is just a pointless novelty to me.

I hope the screen will go all the way to the back of the phone at last. Samsung already patented such a design:

If there is only going to be one "Edge" device, let it be the 5.0-5.2 inch one.
