Huawei sold more than 1 million Ascend Mate7 handsets in about a month

As you can see in the tweet above, Huawei today revealed that it sold more than 1 million Ascend Mate7 handsets until now - since last month, when the device was both announced, and released. Most of the units were likely sold in China, since the Mate7 isn’t widely available around the world yet.

The Ascend Mate7 is one of Huawei’s largest smartphones ever, as it sports a 6-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels. However, it’s still quite compact for a 6 incher, thanks to the fact that its bezels are very thin. The Mate7 is made out of metal, and comes with a one-touch fingerprint scanner on the back. Other features include LTE, 5 MP front-facing camera, 13 MP rear camera, 2 GB / 3 GB of RAM, expandable internal memory, a 4100 mAh battery, and Android KitKat (customized with Huawei’s Emotion 3.0 UI). You can find out much more about the device by reading our Huawei Ascend Mate7 review here (spoiler: we were quite impressed by it).

At the moment, we don’t know if the Ascend Mate7 will be released in the US, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything on this.

I wish the UI skin wasn't as heavy...

Have you ever used Chinese UI ? You can skin nearly every bit of it with themes.

the advantage is that these UI has great features and customization compared to the boring and empty stock android. And unlike samsung and lg, these UI's can be themed heavily and hence it never gets old.

I don't want something that I can theme heavily, etc. I just want something close to stock Android that just works. I had the LG G2 and it was a nightmare...

Thats the problem. Your experience with Lg and Samsung are clouding your opinion. They are a night mare no doubt, while the Chinese UI like Huawei's EMUI3.0, or Xiaomi's MIUIv6 or Meizu's Flyme OS 4.0 are completely unlike them.

Furthermore on these UI, with theming, you can get a stock android look, from basic icons, to deep changes like dial pad and drop down menu or navigation bar controls or anything else you name it. So basically with themes i can make the phones look like anything from Iphone to Samsung or Android Lollipop to Sony's or whatever comes next in 2015 and 2016 even.

I haven't used any Samsung phones, thank God. I guess your point is valid but it still wouldn't be as clean and functional as stock Android...

Nexus 6 is, honestly, a rubbish or garbage based on the selling price, size, features. Google is simply out of its mind by offering so little and asking for so much green back in return. In contrast, this Mate 7 is far superior to Nexus 6 in terms of value-for-money. I encourage everyone opens up her/his mind, spends time to touch the device hence the construction, appreciates the dedication from this now probably the world #1 telecom equipment manufacturer. Please stop proliferating the "copy cat" opinion. Because, once upon a time, US copied Europe (except the native Indians and the immigrants from SA, most people in US are descendants of Europeans), Japan copied from US and Europe, Taiwan copied from US and Europe, Korea copied from US and Europe. Now, it is the turn for China to copy. So, accept the fact that the developing nation(s) always copied the developed nations. So, leave this argument aside and appreciate the fact that many aspects of Mate 7 were home-grown or improved from the copied. As USA is a melting pot of different race and tribes, people there should take a more open mind to things, just move forward and start to appreciate what the other tribes have done!
