Google Wallet and Apple Pay to be accepted at Disney World this week

Disney has announced that its guests visiting Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida will now be allowed to pay using Google Wallet and Apple Pay. Both mobile payment systems will be supported starting December 24th. Google Wallet will be available in "most stores, quick service restaurants, bars and ticket sales booths...any locations that use portable payment terminals, such as table service restaurants, will be added later."

Google Wallet and Apple Pay join the MyMagic+ RFID based system, which allows visitors to charge purchases made inside one of the Disney parks, to their Disney Resort hotel room. Guests are given a wearable called the "MagicBand" which works with a number of payment gateways inside the theme parks.

As for the older Disneyland property in Anaheim, California, Apple Pay will be accepted sometime in 2015. Meanwhile, those in Kissimmee can look for the EMVCo symbol, which are curved lines that resemble a Wi-Fi signal strength meter on a smartphone. The EMVCo symbols indicate locations that accept Apple Pay and Google Wallet.
