16GB Wi-Fi only Apple iPad mini in black joins all white units in selling out
The 16GB Wi-Fi only Apple iPad mini will cost you $329 while the 32GB model is $429 and $529 will get you the 64GB tablet. The Wi-Fi + Cellular version runs $459, $559 and $659 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants respectively. Apple has produced the smaller version of its tablet as a way to compete with the red-hot, low priced 7-inch Android tablets like the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and the Google Nexus 7.
With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, it seems that the demand for the Apple iPad mini is already turning the device into another winner for Apple.

This will be the #1 best selling tablet this holiday season...congrats Apple.
2. vishu9 (Posts: 252; Member since: 03 Mar 2011)
Too soon to say bro. Read the previous article, it's actually Kindle Fire HD..soon to taken over over by Nexus 7 and Nexus 10
40. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
As more people embrace the tablet market, apples share will decrease a little more. That's just normal, but they will continue to be sucessful as well, they r the current bench mark in the tablet world...that won't change anytime soon.
25. blingblingthing (Posts: 462; Member since: 23 Oct 2012)
At the expense of the Ipad 4 and Apple's total revenue?
I would personally take a Nexus 7 or Nexus anyday over the Ipad equivalent.
39. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Yes, but that's u. There r plenty that wouldn't and plenty that would. Apple, amazon, and google will sell a ton of their tablets. They all have a dedicated fan base, so y trip.

you know what the saddest part is bro.
if tomorow me or you die whether you with apple, android or windows or symbian. it does not make a difference to them because they need to make a buck. so neither will they help bury you or shed a single tear for you or even simply be a paul bearer.
they will open up the charts and see how they can fight the death ratio of consumers so they can up their sales and make more money.
stop talking about these things like they gave birth to you and just use them as a means of communicating. nothing more nothing less.
this die hard s**t that you guys play on these forums is very sad. like make your life more meaningful instead of tripping out on each other on behalf of corporate giants.
a great example can be samsung making products for apple ? now if samsung really was in it to be the dominator it would refuse to build apple screens to be like we can do it on our own without taking help from the competition. yet apple orders from them then sues them and samsung makes them cause they both make money.
so stop yourself pause and think for a moment. you and i mean nothing to them. whatever the specs and OS it maybe. you are just a number which determines profit or loss. they are in it for the money. not for you on a personal level. leave emotions aside. think and think hard
i aint a fanboy but this is a true story.

Damn dude, that's like the best post ever!!! Ever!!!
46. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
Yes, it is true, but that doesn't mean that we can't talk about devices, compare them and so on...
54. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
That's true too but the disrespect that often follows isn't needed. Tho I've yet to see u do that...

4. Non_Sequitur (Posts: 1111; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
The Nexus 7 is superior in almost every aspect.
The iPad Mini is almost double the price.
Are people really this misinformed?!
9. wendygarett (unregistered)
I don't see a reason for not to buy iPad mini, let them make their choice, is their money after all :)
10. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
not all people cared about specs.. tried to tell you this many times
15. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
Agree, many Apple customers cares only about brand name.
42. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Not me... I care about how deeply vested I am in the iOS Eco system. Music, games, pics, vids, movies, tv shows, and very sensitive info. Y do I need to change all that, and repurchase a lot of it? It's not all about brand name, sometimes it's brand vested. U like android, what's wrong with people sticking with iOS, especially when and if they're very deeply vested in it? I love android also, but why would I need to move away from iOS?
47. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I said what I said!
" I love android also, but why would I need to move away from iOS?"
Where do you see in my comment that I tell you to move away from iOS?
48. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
U didn't but y do u feel so many only are about brand name? People get vested n the Eco systems
50. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I was talking about why they choice Apple not why they stay with Apple.
And it is their problem if they are prisoners of Apple's eco system.
55. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Prisoners bro really??? If that's the case than we're All prisoners of our chosen OS's. We will Become loyal that operating system and ecosystem over. Time as we vest ourselves in the services and apps that they provide us so actually everybody's a prisoner to the system that they choose after a period of time
17. rusticguy (Posts: 2828; Member since: 11 Aug 2012)
Because for many they really don't know what specs mean. Probably too old to understand them.
51. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
and Android users are too young to distiuished a good thing when they see it. thats why they dont stay,,,
28. Non_Sequitur (Posts: 1111; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
I totally get that.
The thing is that if I was going to spend my money on anything, especially something big and expensive like this, I'd at least do a little research.
43. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Like u said bro, it's not all about specs but apples aren't bad either. Look at all the YouTube videos on iPhone 5 benchmarks, web browsing, processor speed, and UI performance. Rite there at the top. I'll get a ton of thumb downs for this, but that won't change the results of the videos, and reviews.
44. Non_Sequitur (Posts: 1111; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
I love the iPhone 5 and new iPad. Therefore, I expected more in the iPad Mini. It's kinda mediocre in comparison to other new Apple products or the products from competitors. That is all I'm trying to say.
49. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
I feel u but it is cheaper to, not compared to the 7 or kindle but other apple devices.
12. stealthd (Posts: 986; Member since: 12 Jun 2011)
The Nexus 7 is superior on paper and nowhere else. The iPad Mini will launch will an App Store full of compatible apps. The Nexus 7 still largely just has enlarged phone apps.
31. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Plenty of ROMs to be flashed makes it with true Tablet UI

I think it's great that people are upgrading their iTouches, especially with all the constant b¡tch¡ng abount economy. At this rate, the original iTouvch will be obsolete by this time next year.
11. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
Apple is not Android. devices dont become obsolete that quick
16. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4123; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
You keep using Android in the context that its a manufacturer and not an OS. Android doesn't become obsolete when a new high end product comes out, the previously thought high end product is. Even so, just because a new high end product comes out doesn't mean the previous one isnt good anymore.
When the Galaxy S3 came out, did that mean the One X wasnt good anymore? No. Just because the Razr HD came out, did that make the Xperia T obsolete? No, people get devices for different reasons other than specs; there are also variations in software that people aim for.
I don't see the release of a new Android device as another the device is obsolete; I see it as more choice to the consumer. It's quite the opposite for iOS devices though.
Yes, Apple usually waits a whole year to release the next generation product (except just recently with the iPad 4), but all that does is give more time for techonology to advance and make the upcoming release even more of an upgrade to the previous model; thus enticing Apple consumers more to buy the new product. Also, the fact that Apple downgrades the updates to previous generations even more so pushes consumers to move on to the next product, though their current device is only a year old.
Because there are more than one Android manufacturer, that means there will be more than one Android flagship per year. Not only that, but it also allows for more choice to the consumer because of the range of custom UI's. And because they are usually only a few months apart from one another, they are all based around similar performing hardware (aside from a few devices at the end of the year). The benefit of this is that the consumer can choose a device of their liking based on software without having to give up much in terms of specs.
Meanwhile with Apple, there is one model per year with the newest software, and the previous models get screwed with software as there are usually software exclusives on the newest model. This "one size fits all" and software limitation act Apple is playing on their consumers is really bad, and most people buy into it anyways. It's sad really that a big company like Apple would disrespect the people that got them where they are today like that.
18. freefour1968 (Posts: 9; Member since: 16 Oct 2012)
uhm were do you get your information about apple because it os grossly wrong. Apple supports its devices quite a bit longer than the rest of the industry. for example they just this year dropped.the 3gs support for upgrades on the os, a phone that is three years old. please tell me who else supports their three year old devices..... sony, Samsung, Motorola, who? They did that with.thier pc line as well for years...... apple supports their equipment for a very reasonable amount of time.
19. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4123; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
I never said Apple didn't support their devices. I said their support is limited, and by that I mean whenever they release a major update, only the newest model can take full advantage of that update. As you go further down the generations, more features get stripped off.
For example; when the 4S came out it had Siri, while the 4 and 3GS didn't get Siri with the iOS 5 update. That was the major one, but there were more. That's what I meant when I said, "Apple downgrades the updates to previous generations" in my last comment. Maybe you should read more carefully before you call my statements "grossly wrong."
20. mrbtree98 (Posts: 50; Member since: 04 Aug 2012)
the 3gs has been getting cut down versions of software for ages now. did the 3gs get the new maps or some of the other "revolutionary" new features.
besides if you want to keep your device up to date in the android universe, just root and install custom firmware. my retired lg optimus black is running ics thanks to xda and there's already jellybean roms out for most devices like the samsung galaxy s, htc dream (t-mobile g1) and many more devices. the one thing android will always beat apple and ios at is freedom of choice
24. blingblingthing (Posts: 462; Member since: 23 Oct 2012)
A three year old device that recently got features Android brought to us since day one? Not to mean not all the features of Ios are included to the 3gs. Sure it is nice a 3gs is getting updated; but those 2008 features won't impress android users.
21. rusticguy (Posts: 2828; Member since: 11 Aug 2012)
Newer devices released doesn't mean others go obsolete. It just adds more flavor to already available chocies in android worls not like iphone where ever tom d**k and harry is suppsoed to be carrying same old stuff with a label "New" every year :)
23. frydaexiii (Posts: 1241; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
Yeah, obsolete, like a certain 3rd generation Tablet Apple just replace completely in less than a year. At least when high end Androids become "obsolete" they just drop from high end to mid range.
65. protozeloz (Posts: 5383; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
Isn't that what you guys said? When a new android phone comes it renders the old one obsolete but hey the iPad 4 came out so the iPad 3 must be obsolete
52. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
ohh one devices vs. hundreds on Androids yes great comparison
64. protozeloz (Posts: 5383; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
Hundreds? Samsung replaced the Galaxy s2 with the S3 the note with the note 2 the galaxy tab with the galaxy tab 2 a year latter, the iPad 3 got replaced 6 months latter.... the only getting replaced 6 months latter so far where the respective RAZR for the HD version, but it seems I like wasting my time talking to you
6. bubbadoes (Posts: 376; Member since: 03 May 2012)
pure hype to please wallstrret and investors...they probably only produceld 10000 or so. apple sales forecast were down q3.......its all hype.
7. bubbadoes (Posts: 376; Member since: 03 May 2012)
the n7 is already 250 for 32 gig. i got mine today in office depot
8. ElektronicGeek91 (Posts: 105; Member since: 26 Sep 2012)
That's only because Apple don't manufacture enough of their products making it seem like everyone is purchasing them. But in reality it's just a hype thing to make people believe its really the thing to get. Trust me Apple knows what their doing and it works for the people that don't realize that.
13. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
2012 and people think that Apple makes up sales figures.. so they must lie about their profits. cusotmer satisfactions and most of all .. they can create a 7 inch tablet.. lol.. wow such a denial is getting the best of them
22. rusticguy (Posts: 2828; Member since: 11 Aug 2012)
7 inch tablet and apple? When did that happen? Even rounding off will not take it to 7 by mathemetical rules. It's 8 inch tablet :)
53. gallitoking (Posts: 4693; Member since: 17 May 2011)
last part was used as sarcasmm your Android device too dumb to distuinguished that... (or whatever device you may have)
33. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Denial?? Wow, and coming from an APPLE homer...

Not surprised. College students are snatching these up.

i am an apple fanboy but i am starting to fall for the nexus 7 and nexus 10(maybe but lack of tablet optimized apps makes me sad)...but phones apps shouldn't be a problem on nexus 7
30. mio15 (Posts: 28; Member since: 21 Mar 2011)
It´s a tough choice. Nexus 7 and iPad Mini both offer a lot for the money.
Nexus 7 is cheaper and has a higher resolution. iPad offers better housing quality but Nexus 7 also has good materials. Also iPad mini has more screen real estate which is also nice (sadly at lower res.).
For me as a long term Android user it would be a great asset to get the variety of Apple´s App Store and features. So i suggest Android Smartphone and iOS Tablet is a great choice. But lets wait for the upcoming Google event (some time soon) and the Nexus 7 3G. Maybe this tablet will be a price breaker (again).
34. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Great variety of apps, you mean where 400k of them are never downloaded? That variety? Cool
32. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
"The Wi-Fi + Cellular version runs $459, $559 and $659 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants respectively."
What a ripoff...
36. mio15 (Posts: 28; Member since: 21 Mar 2011)
Your avatar shows your capability of comparing two devices.
I wont argue about the storage price point. but at 3G/4G there is always been a huge price difference not only from Apple. look yourself up.
With the Nexus 7 it´s clear which way Google is going here (price pint etc).
There´s always been a "name bonus" to Apple products. but when they offer a level of quality and great concepts and when people are willing to pay that bonus there is no point for them to lower the price point. when it comes to games and high quality (content) apps the iOS App Store is a clear winner.

I am a little tired of the idea that negative is now the norm on Phone Arena comments. It is fine that the "Anti-Apple" crowd is here. This is, after all, a mobile forum in general- not a fan specific one. But the slams against Apple or Android before devices are even released are tiring. I am willing to bet three things right now about the iPad Mini:
1) It will be more expensive then Android tablets in the same catagory.
2) It will sell freaking millions.
3) It will be well supported by Apple for at least 2 more generations of new devices.
Apple users know what they are getting. I am glad Apple is entering this market. Force other tablet makers to react. Consumers will end up winning.
57. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
My household has a Verizon iphone 4S, an ipod touch and the original ipad - I can very easily compare...
45. darkkjedii (Posts: 13370; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
U guys can sit here, and blast apple all u want. It makes no difference, and will affect nothing. This holiday season the iPad mini, amazon kindle, and nexus 7 will sell millions of units, but I guarantee this. The top 2 will b iPad mini, or kindle the nexus will b #3 in this bunch, cuz people simply r more aquatinted with the other two...just watch. Let the thumb downs begin.
