I just saw the iPhone 18 Pro battery leak — and I’m disappointed

The latest iPhone 18 series leak details the battery capacity of the iPhone 18 Pro. Famous leaker Digital Chat Station posted on Weibo information from China's C3 database, showing the rated capacities for Chinese and US iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max models.
The iPhone 18 Pro will get a 4,056 mAh battery in China and a 4,288 mAh battery in the U.S.

According to the C3 filings, which by the way Digital Chat Station posted, the U.S. version of the iPhone 18 Pro will sport a 4,288 mAh battery. That's almost the same as last year's iPhone 17 Pro and its 4,252mAh cell.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max, on the other hand, will come equipped with a 5,391 mAh battery in China and 5,567 mAh in the U.S., compared with 4,823 mAh and 5,088 mAh on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. That's over a 500 mAh increase, but we already knew this from a previous leak by Ice Universe.

iPhone battery capacities differ in the US and other parts of the world
If you're wondering why the capacities differ so much, that's because Apple is including a physical SIM slot in units sold outside the U.S., meaning there's less physical space for the battery.
The same segregation was present on the iPhone 17 series models, with global variants shipping with smaller batteries compared to their U.S. counterparts.

The certification listings cover battery models S2232 and S2233 for the iPhone 18 Pro and 2235L/2235 and 2236L/2236 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

In fact, the name "iPhone 18" is not mentioned anywhere in the leaked documents, but the devices described in the document are highly likely the new Apple phones.
Given the battery capacity for the iPhone 18 Pro Max has been corroborated by other prolific tipsters down to the last number, it's quite plausible, even probable, that we're looking at the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max battery capacities in these documents.

While the 500 mAh battery bump on the iPhone 18 Pro Max model sounds quite exciting, especially when we factor in the 2 nm A20 Pro chip, which is expected to be quite efficient, the iPhone 18 Pro news are underwhelming.
The new and efficient A20 Pro chip could make a difference, but a nice bump up in capacity would've been better. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch this September, along with the foldable iPhone Ultra.
We expect smaller Dynamic Islands, variable aperture main cameras, and Apple's C2 modem as main upgrades.
