The Galaxy S27 series is expected to premiere early next year, which is why we’re getting more specific rumors about it. The latest leak revealed more details about the design of the phones, but it also raised questions about the specific models we may get.
Leaked screen protectors hint at the design of some Galaxy S27 models
Samsung may not change much about the front design of at least three of the Galaxy S27 models. New images showing different types of screen protectors for the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, and Galaxy S27 Ultra have been shared by SammyGuru.
The images confirm that Samsung doesn’t plan any radical changes to the front design of the upcoming phones. All three models retain the rounded corners and the centered punch hole for the selfie cameras we’ve seen on the Galaxy S26 models. The S27 Ultra is also keeping the softer corners we’ve seen on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Earlier rumors claimed that the screen sizes will be practically unchanged, with the base Galaxy S27 getting a 6.27-inch display, while the Galaxy S27 Plus is expected to be 6.66 inches. The Galaxy S27 Ultra will be the largest of the bunch, sporting a 6.89-inch display.

Where is the Galaxy S27 Pro?

A noticeable omission in this leak is the Galaxy S27 Pro, which is rumored to get some of the key features of the S27 Ultra, but come with a smaller display. The Pro is expected to get a 6.47-inch display and the new camera bar design of the Ultra.
However, the Pro model is missing from this leak, which could mean that Samsung hasn’t finalized its design. Virtually all recent leaks pointed at four Galaxy S27 models, but this wouldn’t be the first time early Galaxy S rumors turn out wrong.
Last year, conflicting rumors were mentioning that a Galaxy S26 Pro or a Galaxy S26 Edge could replace the Galaxy S26 Plus. None of this happened, and we got the classic trio.
While it’s unlikely for Samsung to skip the S27 Pro again, such a move would certainly be a mistake. Users on Reddit are unanimously positive about the idea of a smaller version of the Ultra, even if it loses the S Pen, especially if the camera performance remains the same.

The Galaxy S27 is unlikely to come with many surprises
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027, with some rumors claiming that the company is aiming to hold the annual Galaxy Unpacked event in January. Just like in previous years, there could be production issues that may push the premiere to February 2027, though. That's about the same time Apple is expected to premiere the base iPhone 18, which will be the main competitor to the vanilla S27.
Recent rumors suggested that Samsung may rely more heavily on its own Exynos 2700 because the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset is reportedly overheating and throttling when put under heavy loads. However, Qualcomm has denied the report, saying it was inaccurate and that it works with OEMs to deliver premium experiences.
There’s still a chance that Samsung chooses its own silicon for at least some of the models in some markets, especially considering its reported performance. Some insiders claimed that the Exynos 2700 offered better GPU, CPU, and AI results than the leading Snapdragon chip while also running at lower temperatures.
The Galaxy S27 Pro could be Samsung’s best bet for 2027
As much as I like flagship phones, I was never truly enamored with the Galaxy S Ultra models, mostly because I’m not an artist and the S Pen is outright useless for me. If the Galaxy S27 Pro offers the speed, camera performance, and design of the S27 Ultra, without the stylus and in a smaller body, I will be way more interested. If that comes with a really strong battery life, I’d be sold.
