Should you pull the trigger on this deal? Absolutely! While this isn’t a Pro model, you still get a ton of value for your hard-earned cash. The M5 chip is as fast as a rocket and can easily handle anything from casual web browsing and video streaming to demanding workflows, including video editing with DaVinci Resolve and other heavy tasks.

Meanwhile, the laptop’s fanless design makes it slim and light as a feather, so you can bring it with you on holidays—or to cafes if you want to be that fancy tech guy who works from cafes and drives a Tesla.

That said, lacking a fan also means that the laptop will throttle faster as it relies on passive cooling alone. So, while it has the firepower, you may want to opt for one of the Pro models if you do heavy video editing or compile massive blocks of code, as once it starts throttling, you’ll see slower compiling or rendering.

On the bright side, you get the same premium build you’d find on the Pros, including an aluminum body, a keyboard with Touch ID, and an industry-leading trackpad. Then again, with great-sounding speakers, dual-monitor support, and a battery that lasts up to 18 hours of video streaming or up to 15 hours of web browsing, you can’t stay mad at the lower refresh rate and brightness, can you?

Honestly, I believe the MacBook Air with the M5 chip is the laptop to get right now. It doesn’t run Windows, which for many users is all the reason they need to switch. It’s also fast, has a premium build, and is now $200 off. It’s a thousand times better than the Neo and a more reasonable choice than the Pro if you don’t need its active cooling, better ports, speakers, and display. So, don’t miss out and snatch one for less while you can!
