The iPhone 18 might look like this, but is it really that bad?
This iPhone 18 leaked dummy unit has me both excited and confused.

The iPhone 18 launch is getting closer, and with it, leaks are piling up at a faster-than-ever pace. While the iPhone Duo hype is peaking, the upcoming "base" flagship could still have plenty to offer. Its design, for instance, could be rather different from what we're used to seeing.
iPhone 18 dummy unit gives us an early glimpse into the design

Leaker MajinBu just shared a supposed dummy unit of the upcoming iPhone 18, showing the device's rear in a Burgundy-like color. At first glance, the upcoming iPhone may look nothing like the iPhone 17.
Take the camera module, for instance. The two cameras appear to sit in the upper-left corner, just like on the iPhone 17. But unlike that model, the dummy unit shows a camera housing that stretches across the entire upper portion of the phone's rear side, providing a drastically different look.
The differences don't end there. While the iPhone 17 features a seamless, uniform back, the dummy unit exposes the MagSafe magnets in an etched plate.
While MajinBu has shared trustworthy information in the past, it's hard to take this redesign at face value. For one thing, based on its design approach for other devices, it's hard to believe Apple will completely abandon the uniform build in favor of a drastically different, segmented look after just one generation.

Do you think this could be the final iPhone 18 design?

Destined for success?

This, combined with a spec upgrade, could turn the iPhone 18 into one of the world's best-selling phones in 2027. Of course, it's still way too early to definitively say if the iPhone 18 will surpass the iPhone 17 in terms of overall sales or popularity. But if you ask me, there's some potential.
When can we expect the iPhone 18 launch?
At this stage, we have no information straight from the source, but based on reports from prominent leakers, we can expect the iPhone 18's launch sometime in spring 2027.
I'd like to see this design work, though

While I'm certainly a fan of the iPhone 17's uniform back, I'd really like to see this dummy unit design out in the wild. Sure, it seems a bit raw at first, but I think Apple could take that roughness and turn it into something genuinely intriguing.
