If you think last year's Pixel Watch 4 has been made irrelevant by the recent release of an improved Pixel Watch 5, you might want to take a look on Amazon.com today and think again.

That's because, while Google's latest intelligent timepiece continues to cost $399.99 and up, its very similar-looking predecessor is sold at an unprecedented $120 discount in multiple variants. Unfortunately, the cheapest Pixel Watch 4 model is no longer in stock in any color option, but the only slightly more expensive 45mm unit sans cellular connectivity is marked down by 120 bucks from a regular price of $399.99 with a Matte Black case and Obsidian band.

Bargain hunters who like circular Wear OS devices can also opt for a 4G LTE-enabled version of this Snapdragon W5 Gen 2-powered smartwatch in a 41mm size in one of two colorways right now at the same massive discount from a $449.99 list price, while buyers with large wrists and a constant need for a cellular connection should be served well by a 45mm all-black model with LTE support at $120 under $499.99.

Although it's pretty clear why you should choose or at least consider choosing the Pixel Watch 4 over its significantly costlier successor, it's also important to point out that said successor doesn't really justify its much higher prices right now.

Yes, the Pixel Watch 5 does come with a slightly faster chipset than its predecessor, as well as more internal storage space and memory and slightly better battery life, but at the end of the day, the Pixel Watch 4 remains a perfectly acceptable device on all those fronts. And from a cosmetic standpoint, the two smartwatches are practically identical twins.

The Pixel Watch 4 could even be considered a smarter buy than the deeply discounted yet still costlier Galaxy Watch 9 today, although Samsung's newer timepiece does largely justify its higher prices with a much better processor and vastly improved battery endurance.
