Samsung is all but confirmed to launch its new smartwatches alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. We’ve already seen what the Galaxy Watch 9 may look like, and now is the time to look into the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 design.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may come with minimal design changes
Newly leaked renders of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 reveal that the watch may come in at least two colors. Based on the new images, shared on prolific leaker Evan Blass’ newsletter Leakmail, the watch will be almost identical to the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, but there are still some minor changes.
Probably most noticeable are the numbers around the bezel and the redesigned buttons on the side. The orange accent on the main button is smaller, and the additional buttons don’t have an accent anymore. All the buttons are also more separated from each other.
The band design also appears quite different and it doesn’t borrow from the Apple Watch Ultra series anymore. There’s also a new “Ultra” wordmark on the band.

Fewer color options

Unlike the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 appears to have fewer color options. In the leaked images, there were only two colors that don’t look drastically different from each other.

One of them features a dark gray case paired with a dark gray band, both of which appear to have very slight blue tint. There’s also a lighter gray case version, which is paired with a green band. Both of them feature the same orange accents.
In his in-depth review of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, my colleague Peter had an issue with the size and weight of the smartwatch. He thought that was a good smartwatch, but it could have been a much better one. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could be this much improved device Peter imagined.
Unsurprising specs

While the leak didn’t include any specific details, the images themselves revealed that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may stick to the same 47 mm size, and feature a sapphire crystal display. There’s LTE and GPS on board, as well as 10 ATM waterproofing.
Rumor has it that the device could get a significant battery boost, compared to its predecessor.
The safest move possible
It appears that Samsung is very invested in playing it extremely safe with this year’s watches. Just like the Galaxy Watch 9 leak suggested, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 doesn’t seem to even want to stand out from the pack.
