Galaxy S27 isn't the slam-dunk success I thought it would be

Galaxy S27 leaks are dominating the rumor mill, and it seems that Samsung is having a tough time keeping its next-gen flagship phones under wraps. 

Although some of the rumors seem too far-fetched to believe, enough information has surfaced to make me wonder what exactly would make you skip the Galaxy S27 upgrade altogether. 

The results are in: time to check what you think would make the Galaxy S27 worth skipping.

Minor upgrades = no buy

Unsurprisingly, the single biggest dealbreaker for voters is a lack of meaningful hardware upgrades. A full 20.05% of voters agreed that a handful of minor tweaks would make the Galaxy S27 a complete pass.

And why should buyers settle for anything less?

We've already seen brands (like Motorola) releasing new devices in 2026 that (almost completely) copy the spec sheets of their predecessors. 

If you ask me, Samsung won't be so conservative with its upcoming Galaxy S flagships. However, if the South Korean tech giant only slaps on a new processor, that just won't cut it.

The big tie

Then comes the big tie, with 17.58% of voters backing two options. For one group, an Exynos chip on all models would be a dealbreaker, while the other 17.58% think removing the S Pen from the Ultra would be enough to make them switch brands.

I can understand the frustration, but I didn't expect these options to gather equal attention. I've already laid out how I feel about the Galaxy S27 Ultra's S Pen and how its removal might affect the uniqueness of this flagship phone. 

But I've also covered rumors regarding the Exynos 2700, which appears to be a proper high-end SoC, at least at this stage. And yet, it appears that not everyone is convinced that Exynos is living up to Snapdragon's prowess.

Price matters a lot for some of you

For 15.93% of participants, a higher asking price will make the Galaxy S27 undesirable.

Let's look at numbers for a second. In 2026, Samsung introduced a price hike on the "vanilla" flagship and the Galaxy S26+, while only bumping up the MSRP of the Galaxy S26 Ultra in higher storage configurations (512GB and 1TB). Still, with prices for the series starting at $899.99 and reaching an eye-watering $1,799.99, I'm thinking the Galaxy S flagships are already plenty expensive. 

Further down the list, 4.12% of voters claim that unattractive pre-order deals would turn the Galaxy S27 series into a no-buy. The poll result doesn't explicitly show whether users would completely opt out or if they'd rather wait for a discount they find worthwhile.

The design question

In case you missed it, the Galaxy S27 series may actually have a different design than what we're used to. And it seems that 14.84% dislike it, saying they won't upgrade if the design we've seen in multiple renders is what Samsung ultimately settles on.

I have to admit that I, too, am not completely sold on the new look. But if it allows for meaningful changes, such as an addition of Qi magnets (for the first time in a Galaxy S flagship), why not give it a try? 

But some don't need convincing at all

And yet, 9.89% of poll participants can't wait to get their hands on the Galaxy S27 series. This isn't exactly a landslide, but it clearly shows the upcoming flagship phones have already gathered a steady fanbase. 

Whether their interest has been driven by the possible design changes, the fact that the Galaxy S27 Ultra's display may be a true wonder, or another factor remains unclear. But if you ask me, the underlying reasons don't matter all that much; it's the fact that the lineup already has people looking forward to seeing it months before its announcement.

This is where I stand

My opinion is somewhat polarized, if I have to be completely honest. On the one hand, I can't wait for the Galaxy S27 and the changes Samsung comes up with next. 

But on the other hand, I agree with the biggest group of you. If the Galaxy S27 packs little to no hardware advancements, the wait would have been in vain.
