Best Buy has the OG Apple Watch Ultra tank on sale at a new record high discount now
Is the recently released Apple Watch Ultra 2 the absolute best smartwatch iPhone users with a passion for the great outdoors can buy in 2023? Probably. But you know what other product fits that description perfectly... and costs significantly less money? That's right, the first-gen Apple Watch Ultra.

Technically, the 2022-released tank of a wearable device with a rugged titanium body, handy action button, and built-in cellular connectivity is still available at the same $799 starting price as its successor, but if you know where to look, you can currently save a whopping 170 bucks.

Apple Watch Ultra

GPS + Cellular, 49mm, Rugged Titanium Case, Yellow/Beige Trail Loop, M/L Size, Always-on Retina Display with up to 2000 Nits of Brightness, Sapphire Front Crystal with Display Edge Protection, IP6X Dust Resistant, Customizable Action Button, Water Resistant up to 100 Meters, ECG, Blood Oxygen Sensor, Fall Detection, Crash Detection, Temperature Sensing, Emergency SOS, Up to 36 Hours of Battery Life

Best Buy is the retailer that's somehow able to eclipse Woot's very recent (and very compelling) deal on the OG Apple Watch Ultra, going all the way down to $629 for a single model with a yellow-and-beige trail loop in your choice of S/M or M/L size.

All the other color options are unfortunately considerably pricier at the time of this writing, so if you're looking to save as much money as possible ahead of the fast-approaching holiday season, you will need to accept the fact that your smartwatch band is likely to turn a few heads at the office, gym, in the park, and even in the most remote places you might be thinking of travelling to.

That shouldn't really be a problem when you consider the Apple Watch Ultra's incredibly advanced internals and super-sophisticated features, including everything from the most accurate GPS tracking technology available right now to fall detection, crash detection, a state-of-the-art heart rate monitor, blood oxygen sensor, life-saving ECG functionality, 100m water resistance, and an extremely sharp and bright Retina display.

The battery life is also unrivaled... as far as Apple Watches are concerned, and while we're on that subject, you should note that the Ultra 2 is not a lot better than its predecessor, merely improving the already remarkable processing power and integrating a fancy new Double Tap gesture. That's all fine and dandy, but it arguably doesn't justify an additional expense of $170.
