The iPhone Duo pre-orders were a mess, to put it lightly, as scalpers cleared Apple out of inventory within seconds. Fortunately, consumers are taking a stand against these predatory practices and are refusing to pay the ridiculous premiums that scalpers have been demanding.
You’re not buying the iPhone Duo at these prices
The iPhone Duo is being listed on e-commerce platforms for mind-boggling prices, with some listings going as high as $5,000. As Apple scrambles to ramp up iPhone Duo production, we asked you in a poll if you were planning on paying these prices to get your hands on the iPhone Duo.
Over 86 percent of you said that you would never even consider buying Apple’s first foldable iPhone at these premiums. In a similar vein, a new report (translated source) reveals how sellers who stockpiled iPhone Duo inventory are not getting profitable offers from customers, raising fears of going into massive amounts of debt.
Of course, there are the die-hard Apple fans too

Not everyone has the discipline or budgetary restrictions to keep themselves away from the iPhone Duo, however. Almost seven percent of you said that you had waited too long for this phone and that you were willing to pay whatever it took to get it in your hands as soon as possible.

Lastly, a little less than seven percent of respondents said that they wanted to try the iPhone Duo out in person first. If they really love the phone, they might be willing to buy one at these prices. What about you?

A happy ending after all?
I and many others are, rightfully in my opinion, criticizing Apple for not having prepared for this scenario. The company knew that scalpers were waiting for this launch and it also knew that iPhone Duo stock was incredibly low for the time being, yet it took no measures to prevent this from happening.
But either the scalpers got too greedy this time, there actually isn’t as much demand for the phone as Apple would like to pretend, or consumers have finally learned to not reward these tactics. If everyone takes a unified stand against scalpers and refuses to buy the iPhone Duo, they might be a lot more careful the next time a popular product comes out, leading to inventory for actual, real customers.
