Xiaomi introduces 4G version of its value priced Xiaomi Redmi Note phablet
The Xiaomi Redmi Note, the value priced 5.5 inch phablet, now has a variant that supports 4G connectivity. Instead of a octa-core 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 under the hood, with 1GB of RAM inside, the new version features a quad-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU. And the newer model also has 2GB of RAM on board. The Snapdragon 400 used on the 4G handset is the MSM8928 SoC, which comes with a 4G radio.

Native storage remains at 8GB, but the capacity of the microSD slot is doubled to 64GB on the Redmi Note 4G. The latter features a single SIM card slot as opposed to the dual SIM slots that come with the earlier model. The rest of the specs are the same, including the 5.5 inch screen with 720 x 1280 resolution, the 13MP rear snapper, the 5MP front-facing camera, and the large 3100mAh battery. The 4G phone supports TDD-LTE at 1900/2300/2600MHz bands.

Xiaomi's website shows the 3G version of the phone running at a tortoise-like speed of 2.8Mbps over 3G, and a hare raising 132Mbps over LTE. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is priced at 999 yuan ($162 USD), roughly the same price as the original Redmi Note being sold for 509 ringgit ($158 USD) in Malaysia.
