Google adds T-Mobile voicemail transcription to the Phone app

Google has supported Verizon’s Visual Voicemail service in the Dialer app for a while now, essentially nixing the monthly fee for dialing into the voicemail inbox. Back in December, Big G pushed out an update to its phone app that would eventually allow visual voicemail support on other carriers, too.

Fast forward to today, and T-Mobile subs who started seeing voicemail transcriptions in the Google Dialer no long ago, are finally treated to the official rollout. The Google Phone app version 17.0.186697879 that is currently in the Play Store, reads in the changelog "Google-powered voicemail transcription for T-Mobile USA users."

Thankfully, the voicemail transcribing is done by artificial intelligence, so at no point is a human tuning in to listen to your voicemails, Google has outsourced this to the NSA. We kid, but you can always tell it's a machine translation anyway, due to the always funny inaccuracies here and there.
