Video shows BlackBerry Priv running Android 6.0
Since we haven't heard anything about the BlackBerry Priv receiving the update to Android 6.0, Priv owners should be happy to see the video clip that we've embedded with this story. It shows the first Android powered BlackBerry running Android 6.0.1. Unfortunately, we have no idea when this update would be sent out. In the U.S., it would be up to Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T to give final approval to the update, and to schedule a day for it to start getting pushed out.

The update would give the Priv new features like Doze. which puts the phone into a deep sleep when inactive. Apps stop working in the background, and standby time is greatly improved. This should increase the battery life of the phone. The update also adds Google Now on Tap which brings contextual search, and gives you search results based on the content displayed on your phone. And with the update, users can give or deny permissions to apps on a feature-by-feature basis.

Hopefully for Priv owners, whether they are sporting the unlocked or carrier branded model of the device, they aren't waiting too much longer for Android 6.0 to arrive.

For a long time, I had this false assumption that if there exist such a phone company that'd prefer to go down the drain pipe instead of following the Android route like everyone else, That would be Blackberry... The number one reason being strong encryption, the selling point of Blackberry... Too bloody hard to crack... And I believed that an open source OS let out be Android our whatever simply can't touch it... And here we are in 2016, And an Android Blackberry is more than just a rumour... Like it or not but if I am to buy a Blackberry, it'd be running on Blackberry's in-house OS... Not Android...

"Unfortunately, we have no idea when this update would be sent out. Waiting for that lame troll to say how it's "unacceptable" that BlackBerry hasn't released Android 6.0 to PRIV owners when it's up to U.S. carriers to do so. But it does seem like unlocked PRIV owners are about to get MM. Great news, indeed!

It's much better to have a late release that works right! When I finally got the Priv, I took the lazy approach and bought it from T-Mo, wish I'd gone unlocked.

I think blackberry should have just gone universally unlocked and just bypassed the carriers all the way. Would've been available to everyone with no excuses and you wouldn't worry about carrier delays. Spin it how you want but late releases aren't ok.

But they didn't. GET OVER IT, ALREADY. Cry a river about it somewhere else. Nobody cares, Mxy.

Oh shut up. You're always pouting and throwing a hissy fit. You obviously cared enough to respond, as I expected you to. Get lost and go whine somewhere else.

How about YOU shut up instead? You're the one constantly btching and whining like a spoiled brat about a phone you never intended to buy. Don't get salty because I called you out on it. It's an open forum, remember?

28. Mxyzptlk unregistered

The only one who is doing the whining is you. Look at yourself, you're throwing a hissy fit just because I said something you didn't like. Cry me a river, on second thought don't. If you cried anymore, you'd flood us all out.

As usual, you're projecting. You're the one that logged into this very article btching and moaning like a brat that got his pacifier thrown away about the PRIV not being "universally unlocked"....AGAIN. If there is anyone that needs to take a hard look at themselves, it's YOU.

As usual, you're deflecting. The only one who is b-ing and moaning is you. You need to take a hard look at yourself and that's not even including your subtle potshot.

Aren't you the one that logged into this article just to complain, btch and moan? YOU need to take a hard look at yourself. And speaking of potshots: http://www.phonearena.com/news/7-basic-smartphone-features-that-the-iPhone-does-better-than-Androids_id79761/comments/page/2 Comment #109. You took a pot shot against me. Stop being s hypocrite.

53. Mxyzptlk unregistered

I didn't take a potshot at you. Get over it, I'm just expressing my opinion. You are clearly just butthurt, as usual. I didn't take a potshot at you.

So now you're going to be a coward and lie? Backtrack, much? Should have figured as much, coming from you. Be man you fking coward. You took a potshot. Own up to it.

Did I name you in that comment or are you admitting that you're a lame troll who ends up being wrong all the time?

Did I name YOU in that comment that you claim I took a "subtle" potshot at you, or are you admitting that your the lame troll that comes to every PRIV related article and says that it's unacceptable for BlackBerry to not have released MM yet, when it's up to U.S. carriers to do so?

Go away troll! They didn't as most OEM's don't. You really just can't help but come onto every BlackBerry post with some negative bullsh*t. You act just like a spurned lover. Stalking every BlackBerry post. Get a life already Michelle.

No one cares, Bonnie.

I could, but why would I shut up just because you don't like the comment I initially posted? Lol get over it.

You get over me calling you out over your crying and complaining over a phone you don't even own and have no intention to buy.

54. Mxyzptlk unregistered

You've been saying that for months. Let it go. Get over it. Maybe if blackberry didn't charge $700 for it and it was universally unlocked, I would consider it.

You've been complaining about PRIV pricing and "universally unlocked" for months. Get over it.

And you've been acting like nothing is wrong with Blackberry for months. You get over it.

Obviously you do because you responded Michelle. And stop stealing everyone else's vernacular. Be original for once.

Wow, Bonnie learned a new word. Vernacular, those vocabulary lessons are paying off I see.
