Verizon sending invites for a mystery event on January 11
So, the dust at CES 2011 hasn't even settled yet, but it looks like the leading U.S. carrier is gearing up to host what may turn out to be one quite interesting event.

Apparently, Verizon is sending out invitations for a mystery event that will take place at New York's Lincoln Center on January 11 – Tuesday. Do you think what we think? Of course, if a Verizon iPhone is to be announced, we can't imagine a better time, especially after all the rumors pointing out that the much-desired handset will finally be introduced right after CES 2011.

This must be it, guys! Verizon President Lowell McAdam is to host the event, which gives it just enough weight, but we wonder if Steve Jobs would drop by as well? We really doubt it that Apple's CEO would miss the introduction of the CDMA iPhone, if such happens. Anyway, at least there's not much time until we find what this is all about.

At this year's CES, Verizon already announced a bunch of killer smartphones, including the Motorola DROID BIONIC, LG Revolution, HTC ThunderBolt and the Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone, but an eventual iPhone announcement would certainly shake things up even further. What are your thoughts on this?
