Verizon sending invites for a mystery event on January 11
So, the dust at CES 2011 hasn't even settled yet, but it looks like the leading U.S. carrier is gearing up to host what may turn out to be one quite interesting event.

Apparently, Verizon is sending out invitations for a mystery event that will take place at New York's Lincoln Center on January 11 – Tuesday. Do you think what we think? Of course, if a Verizon iPhone is to be announced, we can't imagine a better time, especially after all the rumors pointing out that the much-desired handset will finally be introduced right after CES 2011.

This must be it, guys! Verizon President Lowell McAdam is to host the event, which gives it just enough weight, but we wonder if Steve Jobs would drop by as well? We really doubt it that Apple's CEO would miss the introduction of the CDMA iPhone, if such happens. Anyway, at least there's not much time until we find what this is all about.

At this year's CES, Verizon already announced a bunch of killer smartphones, including the Motorola DROID BIONIC, LG Revolution, HTC ThunderBolt and the Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone, but an eventual iPhone announcement would certainly shake things up even further. What are your thoughts on this?

Its gonna happen this time... theres enough proof and also enough weight to be true.

The best would be to have McAdam just hanging out on stage talking and to have Jobs all a sudden walk out.... the room would explode and we'd all be tossed into the matrix.

I think the iPhone is a waste now that Verizon tore it open with the Moto Bionic. Yea Buddy!!!! It will probably do as good as the Palm Pre. LOL O' and it will probably come out on mother's day as as Palm Pre. LOL Sorry crapple, game over!

apples making the money off the iphones. Apple makes 350 off each iphone while it will take verizon up to a year to start making money after substidizing it

There is lettle doubt that this could be the moment Verizon subs have been waiting for. However, javing previously owned an iPhone, I think many will jump to try it only to find out that Today's devices are more than what the iPhone really is.

Yes, the UI is smooth and the graphics are clear, but those never locked into a walled garden, are going to be somewhat disappointed. I predict extremely good sales, but also see a defection back to Android. I have already heard from many that as soon as their contract is up, they are going to Android. My Nieces and Nephews are at the age where everyone they know has gotten Android based phones. This starts the trend. There are many that have had iphones and their contracts have ended or going to end. I see sales of future iPhone purchasers passing existing iPhone users like two ships on the ocean.

But there are also those who've tried android and went to iPhone. No doubt Android does a lot, but I think Apple does fewer better. I'd rather wait for Apple to get the features that Android has like notifications and customizability, than to wait for Android to get a better app store and become more fluid.

And most people with Android, don't even know they have it so I don't really understand this "android is for smart people" deal.

it's gonna happen and when it does it's rumored that AT&T will loose over 1.1 million customers I wonder why though I mean they do have great phone service and I love how my phone calls have never dropped while on a very important conversion " cough "

This fits in with the rumors. They said after Christmas, right after CES, and now they are saying Feb 3. Anyone from Phonearena going to go?

I guarantee att doesn't lose 1.1 million customers. Att would make a killing on early termination fees. Also Verizon has to throw a pretty penny to kill that att/apple contract. I think it'll be the iPhone 4 but I think people have grown kinda tired of hearing it but it will sell.

Ok guys... This isn't an iPhone. I talked to my cousins friends uncle who once owned and iPhone and he said that he heard from his neighbors friends aunt that the iPhone wouldn't be released until 2012.

I heard from my other neighbors cat that AT&T is actually buying Verizon out.

It is the iphone, I happen to work for Verizon and have received tips that we will be getting it "VERY SOON" and also that Apple will be handling all warranty issues and even questions. All we (Verizon) will be doing is selling the device. This is going to be huge, and we will be taking training classes soon.

Actually there is training for the Iphone, it will be 3-5 days before actual release of the phone. So many haters on this website sheeshhhhhh. Training is mandatory in order to learn about the phone before we sell it!!!

I'm very curious Johnnyboy what exactly was the last training you received for a mobile device? I'd hardly imagine that a wireless company would employ someone like you who types like you're five. Then again.. maybe they need the ignorance for entertainment purposes. :)

this is bull again there will never be an iPhone for Verizon. There's been a Verizon iPhone since 2007...it doesn't take 4 years to make a phone. get it out of your heads its another rumor to make you all have joy and excitement over nothing.
