Updated emoji comes with update to the WhatsApp beta for BlackBerry 10
For those with a BlackBerry 10 device worried about LAP (life after Priv), in some ways it's business as usual. For example, in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, the WhatsApp messaging app has received an update. These days, when it comes to messaging apps, what is more important than emoji support? Today's update brings an updated set of emoji and emoji picker categories.

An issue with the app caused media transfers to fail if the app was closed before the transfer was completed. This problem has been resolved by the update. And of course, the proverbial bug fixes and performance enhancements are included with the update. Speaking of bugs, since this is a beta version of the app, you might find some minor issues with it.

It might have escaped your memory, but Facebook purchased WhatsApp, closing on the transaction back in October 2014. The final purchase price was $21.8 billion. BlackBerry users, of course, have their own home grown multi-platform messaging app in BBM.

Don't use WhatsApp. Definitely prefer BBM to it. BBM offers more features, and has a level of security and privacy that WhatsApp does not.

While I love to give in to BBM, unfortunately in my country, I can't even find a person who are using BBM anymore. Just sad.

That is unfortunate. I happen to know tons of people on BBM. I'm from the US, but I communicate with many BBM users from all over the world.

Me too. Since the death of Blackberry, only the unfortunate still use BB.

I use WhatsApp because it's a lot safer than BBM on Android, considering the latter has no encryption.

I only use BBM on my Passport. You get the best BBM experience on BB10.

Finally, some news about BlackBerry 10, just sad to see BlackBerry 10 is on maintenance mode now, or maybe no.

Sadly, it is currently in maintenance mode. Hopefully, should the handset division become profitable due to Android powered BlackBerry sales, BlackBerry will create new BB10 handsets.

In my opinion, currently BlackBerry is playing the safe game, they won't totally give up on BlackBerry 10, nor they will continue to develop for new version unless they gain back the market again(As stated on their developer blog, new API will be release as per developer request). Hopefully, Blackberry and Google can come to reach a term where Google allow them to use the Google play service on the BlackBerry 10 device, since Eric Schmidt love BlackBerry :D

Totally agree. A BB10 device with Google Play Services would be my dream device!

I think BB10 is already dead, burried. The term maintainance mode is just for public, so they will buy the remaining phone (unlike Elop/Nokia).
