Update to Opera mini version 8.0 allows you to track the amount of data you save
An update to one of the most popular third party browsers, Opera mini, is now available taking it to version 8.0. The update is available for free from the Google Play Store and brings a new skin, new look and new feel to the browser. With the latest version of Opera mini, swiping allows you to close tabs and delete bookmarks.

Speaking of swiping, swiping up will allow you to search for content as will a long-press. While you are typing URL addresses, suggestions will pop up on the bar. Because Opera mini uses Opera's servers to render sites first, using the browser can save you on data use. A new counter keeps track of how much data you are saving. There is also a new private browsing mode.

Opera mini has been around for ages, but this new update breathes some life into the ol' boy. You can check out a promo for the new update by clicking on the video below.

Me too, it just came out of beta. My only complain is the Saved Pages screen with is not sorted alphabetically by default and lacks any sorting options while also lacking details of the page with only one row of detail provided.

Well I use Opera on da8ly bad8s for lite browsing and Google Chrome is down the pecking order of my choice of browsers on Android. Apart from the sync feature which I can do without, Javelin runs circles around it.

My Opera mini browser says there's an update but when I click it to update, then Play Store shows no update. And there are two versions of Opera mini browsers on Play Store. I think I didn't got the update properly, so I installed it separately and now i have two versions installed on my phone.
