UPDATED: LG Louvre GC990 has a 12MP camera with HD video recording
*Update*: LG informed us that the Louvre GC990 is only a concept and unfortunately, there are no confirmed plans that it would be brought to the market. However, the very fact LG is demonstrating such a technology tips us off that we are to see this kind of products, sooner or later.

Have you ever felt like getting a cell phone with 12-megapixel camera, able to record HD video? Well, this may become possible pretty soon. At Korea Product Exhibition in Warsaw, LG has showcased its latest (and greatest) camera phone, dubbed the LG Louvre GC990 (not to be mistaken with what we believed is the Samsung Louvre B7610, which turned out to be the OmniaPRO B7610). Now, the LG Louvre GC900’s 12MP cam will take advantage of Scheider-Kreuznach optics and equipped with xenon flash for nicer images in low-light conditions. The specs sheet reveals HD video capturing capabilities at resolution of 1280x720 pixels, 30 fps and support for auto/touch focus, which isn’t something that innovative. Other camera functions include ISO of up to 3200 and image geotagging.

What about the other specs? The LG Louvre GC990 mounts a 3.2-inch touch-sensitive screen, which is slightly better than the 3-inch displays of the ARENA and the Viewty Smart. In addition, users will be able to use Wi-Fi (plus DLNA support), TV-out and GPS. Presumably, the interface it runs is the LG’s award-winning S-Class 3D. Still, info about pricing and release dates is unavailable for now, but we will keep our eyes open for any new details about it. As a whole, the Louvre GC990 looks more promising than the Samsung Pixon12, but it all depends on when we’ll actually see it hit the shelves.
