T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S6 edge now receiving Android 5.1.1

T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S6 edge now receiving Android 5.1.1
The Android 5.1.1 factory image for the Nexus Player was pushed out a little more than a week ago. Now, the latest and greatest build of Android is reportedly being sent out to the T-Mobile branded version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. A video was posted on social media showing the About Device page, which revealed that the Galaxy S6 edge in the video was indeed rocking Android 5.1.1.

The most anticipated feature on the update is a bug fix that is supposed to eliminate a memory leak that has afflicted Nexus handsets since Android 5.0 was pushed out. Some using the Nexus 5 are finding that their apps are crashing, and that the amount of free RAM on the phone is declining for no apparent reason. Closing active apps won't even increase the amount of free RAM.

According to an XDA poster by the name of Sunderwear, who did take a screenshot of his updated Galaxy S6 edge, the phone is a lot snappier following the update. If your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has received Android 5.1.1, drop us a comment in the box below and let us know what you think.

the note 4 wasn't being updated because there was some issues with its compatibility with vr headsets when running lollipop.

This is a hoax There is no 5.1.1. Not even shown over @ Sammobile firmwares Nexus 6 is still on 5.1. How can Samsung beat the Nexus. Not likely. Not ever. I'm calling 1000% BS on this

This probably has more to do with Samsung trying to expedite the updating process by pushing the carriers to update the phone, as there's more capital potential in the more mainstream recognition Galaxy S variants.

The guy has probably just changed the build.prop info. Its a hoax people Did Phonearena check with T-Mobile before posting this? I bet not.. LMAO! April fools day was a month ago

editing the build.prop doesn't change the date on the kernel, and it doesn't alter the build info in the se for android status

Did they fix the brightness issue, the lagging issue, the only 400 free ram issue? And why does the black model look blue? Took mine back got the note 4 couldn't be happier

If you really had the S6 you wouldn't have listed all those bugs found on internet because you would have not noticed them, not every device has them. And you would have known that the 'black' colour actually is 'sapphire black' and that it is meant to be blueish. But it's cool, don't cry, the Note 4 is a decent device. Just know that the S6 has the update priority now.

Wow that's fast! Hopefully this fixes the cell standby issue as well... As right now I can't make it through a day with moderate use... Also I guess this is why when coming out of some apps it take about 30 seconds for my home screen to render...
