T-Mobile's LG G3 users can manually update their phone to Android 5.0.1 right now
T-Mobile subscribers totin' the LG G3 have not yet received the update to Android 5.0. A look at the carrier's software update page for LG's current flagship device shows that there is no new update available. But using LG's mobile support tool, you might be able to have the update downloaded and installed on your phone in a matter of minutes. This process allows you to get the update directly from LG instead of T-Mobile.

To manually update the T-Mobile LG G3, go to the sourcelink which will take you to LG’s mobile support tool website. Click on Software Update (LG Mobile Support Tool). You might see a notice saying that your software is up to date. That is usually a sign that you need to dry your eyes and try again another day. But not now! If you get the message that your phone is up to date, click on options and then upgrade recovery. This will install Android 5.0.1 on your LG G3.

Just to make sure you're covered in case something goes wrong, it would behoove you to back up your data and content before giving the mobile support tool a go. If taking this short cut makes you a little bit nervous, consider the alternative. You might have to sit through more waiting until T-Mobile finally decides it is time for you to install Android 5.0 on the LG G3. If impatience is your middle name, you could give the mobile support tool a shot. Imagine the looks of jealousy and admiration you will receive just by being the first T-Mobile LG G3 owner in the neighborhood to sport Android 5.0.1 on their handset.

I just created an account to tell you not to waste your time. This 'solution' is being far from working.

Tried in my Tmobile G3 D851 Black and have Lollipop running. First thing is that the tool only allows the update of D851BK - Black version. Does not allow the update of the white version which is D851WH. Once you download the B2CSetup.exe app from LG and install it in your computer, as soon as you connect your phone it opens something like a Applet which then run some tests. Even for me while checking was in progress, it said "Update Available", but as soon as the control came back to me, it saif, "You have the latest version". This moment, I went to the menu and chose "Update Recovery". It downloaded a 1.2 GB file within 6 minutes, rebooted the phone and did a firmware update followed by another reboot and then "Optimizing all of my 224 apps" to use ART. 7 minutes to get to the Optimization screen and about 5 min to throw the new home screen.... Then the LG Apps needed an update for the new OS and all were downloaded and updated. I am now able to use the phone....Though I have not called yet ;-D [too late to test those features] Pros : Lollipop G3 looks more polished than Kitkat G3. Moving across home screens feel smoother. Card interface of all opened Apps looks cool. Scrolling through them is fast compared to the old. Notifications look simple Cons: Phone does get hot easily. Esp on the back button you really feel it. I got a "Wi Fi Calling Error:ER05 Invalid SIM" message with a red notification on the notifier section. Need to go TMo store or 611 to resolve the error. On screen control button look more comical compared to the KK counterpart CLEAR button for notification is at the bottom rather than the top [my preference] Google Play services Agreement. The most f***ing piece of s**t ever to encounter. It will notify itself and ask me to Activate but just keep on doing nothing. I had to reboot the phone 3 times to make sure that it downloads and updates itself completely. Other apps that need to be updated like Facebook, my bank app took more time to update than usual. Overall I have to test tomorrow and see how it performs day time stuff. And see about the battery life

Ok. A few updates... The phone does not heat up above what it used to before. Battery life seems more/less similar. The "Wi Fi Calling Error:ER05 Invalid SIM" disappeared for a couple of days and now has reappeared. I would go to a TMo store to sort that out....
