Sony gets four IF Design Awards, including one for the Sony Xperia Z3

Led by the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, Sony Mobile snapped up four IF Design Awards for 2015. The Xperia Z2 Tablet was loved by the jury for its rounded corners and light weight which made the slate easy to handle. Also noteworthy is the minimum number of components used, the attention to detail, and the water and dust proofing. The result is "an honest, outstanding device." The tablet was recognized with the IF Design Award 2015, Discipline Product – Gold.

Also recognized with the IF Design Award 2015, Discipline Product is the Sony Xperia Z3, and the Sony Smartband/SmartWatch 3. The Sony LifeLog app, which is a fitness tracking application, was also recognized. The app measures the number of steps you've taken, how long you have been walking or running, and tracks other activities.

Last year, Sony Mobile took home IF Design Awards for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, Sony Xperia C, Sony SmartWatch 2, and the Bluetooth Handset SBH52.

Its the inner beauty that counts (software updates) and not just the exterior.

Man, What's your problem? This post doesn't have anything to do with software. You're a sony hater and a typical samdung fanboy! This is about design and don't be jealous because your samdung is ugly. Get a life

What a mature reply. My apologies for criticising, Sony ! Dear Sony, Please take your time to update your flagship which is already 6 months late. In the meantime, we all will continue to stare at the amazing design of Z3 because who cares whats inside when the exterior is so damn beautiful. Regards, tech2

You're acting like kitkat is ugly? Lollipop is out already but atleast they will updat all of the z series. And also if you don't like to wait a month or 2 extra just don't buy it. Buy a nexus device and you're sure you won't have to wait at all. Last time with kit kat they where pretty fast and i find 3-5 months acceptable if the one that is running is stable. Samsung did excellent this time.

Who said anything about kitkat being ugly ?! 'i find 3-5 months acceptable' - They haven't updated the devices yet and its already been about 6 months. We are just seeing the first leaks now. So it will be at least another month when it actually starts rolling out to its flagship Z3. For the rest of the Z series a reasonable estimate I'd make is 7-8 months, if ever.

6 months for what update? Other companies just gave it at the end of Januari. Just a month late. I have a life so I don't mind waiting a bit longer. It's not like my phone is out of order while waiting...

I'm sorry i misinterpreted you sentences. But its not been 6 months. Lollipop released on nexus in mid november so that means it isn't even 4 months now. I can understand if it takes longer on older phones Like the z as it is already 2yrs old. They are going to updat allot of phones so its also very Logical that it would take them longer to updat them all. They have to updat update z/zl/ zr/zt/z1/zu/z1c/z2/z2t/z3/z3c/z3tc.

The lollipop was announced in June. Obviously, Sony got it back then/or even before not when after it was released on Nexus devices.

Source code was also made available in november i think it was the beginning so that would make it 4 months.

Why does it matter to you if Sony take ever to update their phones? Jealous Samsung j*****s fan can't take it when other companies design win prestigious award and will find any excuse to troll. You are a total j*****s troll and you just proved it.

Fast Lollipop update is only for stock android phones which are devoid of features and playing catching up with OEM roms. Sony is actually ahead in features with USB audio, stamina modes and memory card installs. Why pointlessly update to Lollipop when you already have features that inspired Lollipop?

It's the software updates that made these people get impatient and became spoiled brats. Samsung may be very quick in updating their high end phones to Lollipop, but it ended up being buggy. Random reboot, keyboard lag etc., these bugs are very annoying. But oh wait, what do these people care about? They just want their phones to be the first to get Lollipop and brag it to others. Patience is a virtue. We can still wait for the stable Lollipop 5.0.2, it's not the end of the world right? Let them enjoy their buggy 5.0. They like buggy updates, it's the beauty for them. :)

So asking for software updates after 6 months is classified as 'spoiled brats' ? Wow..... and why not give concrete proof that lollipop is so buggy on Samsung's devices rather then making unwarranted allegations. At least other companies are making effort. Even the chinese phone companies with half the price of Sony's flagship (One Plus One) are giving dates for their Lollipop update.

You are asking for updates for devices you don't own... By the way I am actually very happy with my device and its current software. I have absolutely no rush to update and Sony already includes many L features in KitKat... I love having BT Unlock BTW

If you don't want update. Good for you. That doesn't mean Sony has the right to not give updates to EVERYONE of its users.

You pay for a phone with its current software, of course is up to Sony to decide if they will update or not. They already officially stated that the whole Z line will be updated, so why worry? Do you speak for everyone with a Sony, without having one yourself?

There is a thing called 'after sales service'. Its the responsibility of OEM to provide updates. Are you saying its okay to never expect an update to a $800 dollar phone. Read # 33

First, It costed me $500. Second, I receive an update the minute I turned on my newly arrived device. And system apps has been updated as well. In fact, the Walkman app is already with material design... Of course I want a good after sale service, but you are making a huge deal over something that you have no knowledge about because YOU DON'T OWN ONE. I knew I will get Lollipop, Sony has kept his promises (with the exception of Xperia SP)

Haha...lot of butthurt Sony fans. Atleast I am not a judgmental idiot who thinks people are fat and ugly just because to them inner beauty matters more. Anyway, water on a duck's back. If you think by making a personal jibe at someone Sony will learn to do business then feel free to do so but Sony's been a failure at android because they can't retain their existing customer by giving them timely updates.
