Sony Xperia S 1080p video tested under the rough conditions of a live concert
The Sony Xperia S 12MP Exmor R camera is shaping to be one of the most potent smartphone snappers this season, as attested by the cowboy shootout between Sony's handset and a few other high-end phones.

One area we haven't been able to test it in yet is low-light video capture, probably the worst scenario of all for a smartphone to try and shoot 1080p footage with aplomb.

Along comes the concert of a popular Thai indie band called "25 Hours". About 5 minutes from its concert have been recorded with the Xperia S 12MP camera in Full HD, and now you can explore the result. It is not bad at all considering the challenging low-light conditioins and the fast moving band members, not to mention that the sound quality seems quite stellar.

Of course, YouTube adds its own compression, so the actual footage is likely a tad better, but if you want to see how the 1080p video will look like when you take your Xperia S to a live concert, have a glimpse at the clip below.

If only Sony would update their phones and get them on board with carriers, they might sell a few. But unfortunately, their last models became ancient within months from lack of support and adoptability without carrier incentives

Lack of support? GTFO my Arc had 5 system/software update since I bought it in July 2011. The weak adoptability part was due to their previous fiasco with the X10, but 2011 models were a very different story. . .

wow. sound quality wise thats an awesome improvement. Its still not perfect, but compared to most phones today that would just sound like static at a concert (i know, i take a lot of concert video just to have to overdub it with the actual song.. grrr), its great.

I dont really trust sony cameras unless I test it myselves. Literally believed the exmor r sensor , its reviews and videos on the tube and got the ray, turned out to be the worst cameraphone, even worse than my old vivaz pro. It sucked big time. My GS2 never let me down.

Piekrītu rakstītajam, pirms dažiem gadiem daža laba videokamera nespēja uzņemt tādas kvalitātes video, mana vecā tai skaitā. Kā parādīsies pārdošanā tā pirkšu. Sony rullē, reaāli rullē!!!
