Samsung's GEAR smartwatch set to launch alongside Galaxy Note III on September 6, at IFA?
Samsung GEAR, aka Samsung Altius, the company’s first attempt at making a modern smartwatch, is indeed real and it would share the centerstage for Samsung this September at IFA 2013, if we are to believe the latest whispers on the grapevine.

Speculations point out that the Samsung Gear smartwatch might launch along the Galaxy Note III phablet on September 6th, and mentions the goal of this launch would be to precede the launch of a possible Apple iWatch.

We should point out that nothing substantial has leaked about the Samsung Gear watch. This could mean that the launch of the smartwatch would be low-key and it would be more of an accessory for Galaxy smartphones rather than a fully independent device.

In either case, September 6th should definitely be marked on your calendar.

checking with news these days, Apple isnt releasing its watch anytime soon so if samsung is the first one to release the smart watch out of both of them. it would be interesting to see, usually apple has an upper hand. obviously more people will buy apple sh*t but they wont be able to say they were first one. cus obviously pebble, sony and then samsung came first. hopfully this watch doesnt have a physical homebutton on it. and same old samsung ugly design.

At first I thought it would be an accessory with the Note 3 like Sony has with the Xperia Z Ultra. A smaller device that can be used for calling. Doesn't look like it though.

I just want to see a watch that will connect to my smartphone and allow me to access features on it. If i get an email, id like to be able to review the email. Id like to the same with a text and missed calls. Also access to calendar dates and appts. i dont have to be able to respond really but it would be nice to be able to quickly look at the watch, touch the screen and see the update/msg i want to see.
