Samsung teases the Note 8 event with a “Do bigger things” video

It's been almost a month since Samsung sent out an invitation for its Unpacked event to be held on the 23rd of August. The image back then depicted a Galaxy Note 8 silhouette with an S Pen pointing towards it. Pretty obvious who the star of the event is going to be, right?

Now, Sammy has posted a video on its YouTube channel, basically teasing the Note 8 further. The clip basically throws a number of inspirational words like “leap”, “innovate”, and “bigger” at us, then finishes up with the same silhouette from the invitation. The supplied text reminds us of the 23rd of August. Sorry, no secret glimpses at the new device or its features.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to inherit the 18.5:9 display ratio, first seen on the Galaxy S8, the outstanding S Pen stylus experience that the line is known for, as well as all the bells and whistles, like an iris scanner, face scan for unlock, and the good-old fingerprint scanner, albeit in an odd position on the back. It's also said it will have a dual camera module, with one sensor being equipped with a telephoto lens and able to take portrait shots with blurred background.

Well, 9 days left to go, folks. Any hype?

This will definitely be an upgrade for you. Enjoy! I had the Note 7, it won't be a huge upgrade over it. But I still love the Unpacked and I can't wait to see what Samsung brings. Even if I don't buy it personally, It will give me an idea what they need to beat for the next model, which I will get for sure if I dont get this one.

It's not just a phone. It's THE phone. Everything else is just a Note wannabe.

So you've seen it in person & compared it to the other Notes?

I guess it depends on which way you are holding it. Right? What the different between half empty or half full? Simple. Depends on if you pouring in, or pouring out.

Coming from a current Note 5 user (which is still working extraordinarily well), I'm not that interested. The device will be extremely tall and the fingerprint scanner will not be ideal for my usage. I'll be waiting for the Note 9.

Do you really believe that FPScanner on home button of Note5 is better place? LOL Bet on that you drop the phone every time you use it one-handed. Besides , tall display means, MUCH better split screen use.

I work in an office so my phone is sitting on a desk (I know...first world problems) so having the fingerprint scanner on the back isn't ideal for that situation. Also, I have large hands so holding my phone isn't any issue. There are certain jeans that my phone would literally stick out of my pocket with this phone (again...first world problems).

Also Klinton: did we not have a conversation about the S8/S8+ in regards to the screen size and aspect ratio of the screen prior to the phones releasing...and how you did not believe that the screen sizes would be 5.8" and 6.2"?

Agreed. Plus it will be nice to have a lower cell phone bill payment. :D

No more note tablets? The stylus suits 10" or 12" screens better.

I know. I'm sad about that too. I think they're replacing that with the Galaxy Book line, and just throwing the pen in with the S Tab line since tablet sales overall are super sluggish.

I too am sad they didn't bring a new Note 12.2. But the fact is, there i no money in this segment at that size.

If it suited them better, they wouldn't make the Note at all.

Coming from a current S8+ user I'll feel right at home with the design of the note 8 and will be looking forward to the even better features associated with the note series as well as looking forward to Samsung building on the already good performance on the S series.

Coming from a OnePlus One, I sure can't wait to start making use of that active digitizer pen as much as I do on my Surface Pro or even more, this will be my first Samsung Smartphone.

Coming from a withdrawn Note 7 and a S8+, I'm already familiar with the Note series, so I'm hyped for #TheNextGalaxy!

I'm kind of surprised that you being an Android user have never owned a Samsung device. But you held out for a great choice

I just mentioned my most recent Samsung devices... So not sure where you got the idea that I had never owned a Samsung device. In fact, my first ever Android phone was a Samsung phone!

@Post 11, I mistook your comment to be a reply to post 9, when in fact it's likely a reply to post #7. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's all fine, I'm well aware that you enjoy Samsung, I mean look at your profile picture. It would make for better organization if all comment replies showed the comment it was a reply too. for instance your Comment #20 shows it's a response to #17 but your #17 doesn't say it was a response to #11
