Samsung includes a refurbished 3-year old Galaxy Note 3 in its list of Black Friday deals
By all accounts, 2016 was not a great year for Samsung. Oh, it started out quite well, thank you, with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. But the double recall on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which resulted in the device being pulled from Sammy's lineup, reportedly cost the company as much as $5 billion in costs and lost sales. And who knows how much the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco will hurt them in the future.

While Samsung would love to make up the missed sales, it is not going to do so by selling refurbished three-year old handsets. Yet, a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 3 shows up in the company's online deals for Black Friday. The price of the 2013 phablet is $249, a 50% cut from the usual price. The refurbished Galaxy Note 3 is available for Sprint and T-Mobile users,

To refresh your memory, the phablet comes with a 5.7-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 800 SoC is under the hood carrying a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU, and the Adreno 330 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of native storage. A 64GB capacity microSD slot is included for those who need additional storage. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 13MP/2MP, and a replaceable (!!) 3200mAh battery is on board. Having lived through four updates, Android 5.0 is installed.

Instead of buying someone's former problem, why not look at a new handset. Best Buy has the Motorola Moto G4 Plus for $249.99. While there is no S Pen, most of the specs are comparable, and you're buying a new phone with a fingerprint scanner.

I don't think it is, where else would you find those specs with that screen size and the included 64gb ad card for 249?

Maybe in China but anywhere else and you're looking at a 615/616/617 etc which is weaker

Not Note, though. If you don't have Samsung's Note, you don't have Note. Period.

I've had a Note (4) and guess what........it was a phone. A big phone? Yes. A phone with a stylus? Yes. But still a phone, right? Absolutely. It's not that great man......

If it is the deal your talking about, yeah it isn't that great. But if you're talking about the Note itself, "great" is subjective, if the stylus isn't much of a big deal to you, doesn't mean it isn't to everyone.

If you have used Note4 only as a phone, or just as a big phone, then I understand your point. Move on now, and calm down:)

That's right. Slap on a Zerolemon 10,000mAh extended battery, I can heavy use mine for the entire day with no worrying about charging.

You're right. The only comparable would be buying a Sony Xperia Z Ultra brand new off Ebay for around the same price. I did prefer the Ultra to the Note 3 though.

Honestly, the best Black Friday deal, For Note beginners, or back up Note for existing Note users !!! Noting compare to the Note category. Remember that!

Omg.... that's sarcasm I hope. Because if not......my respect for any opinion you have goes right out the window. This phone is 3 years old..... THREE!!!!!!!!!!!! I can get one off eBay brand new for 130$. This is bulls**t!

Can you post a link of 64gb Note3 for $130, please. Your comment is bulls**t, my friend! BTW This phone is 3 years old and still better than almost all on the market, in functionality.

Jesus......you Note fans have ZERO ability to distinguish "novelty" from "functionality". Those two words mean very different things, and in this case, you'd be an asshole to recommend this deal to anyone. I get that you're a Samsung fan, but seriously, be rational. This phone has an AGED processor, running on 32-bit architecture, hasn't received a software update in a year, and is refurbished. Come on dude..... that's unf**king acceptable in 2016.

You sound desperate. Calm down, and take a breath. Having 64gb new real Note for $249.99 (even Samsung refurbished) it's a great deal for ppl that could never get REAL Note otherwise- the most expensive category .

A "Real-Note" is a phone with a f**king pen dude..... it's not that amazing. You sound like those old school Apple fanboys.... it's kinda making me feel nostalgic. Anyways, paying this much for a Note 3 is absurd..... period!

The 'f**king pen' is only a tool(amazing innovation though). Same for the special display that works with S-pen. But the most important here are the features, that you could never get on any other device. Having 64gb version of new real Note for $249.99 (even Samsung refurbished) is a great deal. Period. Apple fanboy's example is not relevant here.

Wow, you're throwing subjectivity out of the window. As much as I agree that this deal isn't that good, I also agree that you are talking crap right now.

This isn't talking crap..... this is a reality check dude. I didn't say it was a bad phone, I didn't even say it wasn't good, but this dude and the "Note experience" crap are WAY over the top. It's a phone....not the second coming of Elvis. Hell, the damn thing is three years old! If Apple did this with the 5s, would they be like "Oh....what a steal!" or even close to that? Hell no...... they'd be trashing them. And the 5s (which came out the same year) had: a better processor (not subjective....check reviews from that period) a fingerprint sensor, and it's STILL getting updates for two plus years. This is ridiculously stupid.........

As I said, this deal isn't good, and I agree with you at that part. What I'm saying is you're sounding like you're completely dismissing the S-pen in general. I emphasize the last part of comment #34

I am....for my own (and the vast majority of people in general) usage. If some find it useful, excellent. However, it's not some "mind blowing" occurrence. Stylus and touchscreens have gone together for a decade and a half now......and there's a reason they haven't caught on. TMP; dr- Niche products are beloved by those who own them. However, there are other phones with a stylus, and they have specs that better match modern standards. That's my major point here. You get that already, I'm trying to explain this to........ what's his name? Oh... Klinton.
