Samsung Gear S3 to receive Tizen 3.0 OS update at some point

The newly introduced Samsung Gear Sport is the only smartwatch that will ship with Tizen 3.0 OS on board. All other Samsung smartwatches are powered by a previous version of Tizen, which makes the Gear Sport more appealing.

Still, Samsung fans who already purchased the Gear S3 will be pleased to know the South Korean company plans to provide them with a Tizen 3.0 OS update at some point in the future.

Reliable sources told AndroidPit that Samsung Gear S3 will receive the Tizen 3.0 OS update, but they failed to mention when exactly it will happen.

Releasing the update before the Gear Sport might hurt its sales, which is why we believe Samsung will move in and update the Gear S3 only after its hybrid smartwatch hits the shelves.

Speaking of which, Samsung has yet to confirm when exactly the Gear Sport will make its debut on the market, but rumor has it the smartwatch will arrive sometime in Q4 for around $350.

The carrier Gear s3 with MST and LTE priced at $360-$399. The wifi Gear s3 with MST priced at $299. The wifi Gear Sport without MST and LTE should be priced at $249-$279. I can understand why it lacks those features because it's aimed towards heavy swimmers and you're not exactly going to be taking phone calls and/or completing transactions while you're swimming.

For me there's no point in owning any future Gear watch that doesn't have MST and LTE technology. I'd have to agree that this watch for many would be a step in the wrong direction if you already own the Gear s3. Unless Tizen 3.0 is going to fix the deactivation bug associated with my debit and credit cards on my watch then I have no interest in upgrading to Tizen 3.0.

I really want that 3.0, it looks hella sweet. My Gear S3 is cool, and 3.0 will only make it cooler. When it drops, I update to 3.0, till then I'm cool. Note 8 shipped, so I'm geeked out for the king.

Cool. Would love the new sports tracker. Gonna be training for my first 1/2 IronMan for next year and having a watch that auto tracking swimming, running and the biking in one device I already own would be a nice thing to have. Anyone who has a S3, shouldn't even be looking at he sport to begin with. It is a downgrade as it doesn't have LTE. I also doubt it will be $350 because the Gear S3 is $360+ on carriers. I expect it will be $299, which is what the WiFi versions of the Gear S, tend to cost.

It doesn't have MST either, another big downgrade.

The sport is mid tier, but still way ahead of Apple Watch. The Gear S3 is like Hulk compared to Banner lol. I'm gonna have my Gear S3 for quite sometime.
