The next Galaxy smartphone might undergo a name change, Samsung Mobile chief said

Next year's addition to the Samsung Galaxy S series actually might have a different name. This was rumored for a while, but was officially confirmed by Samsung Mobile's CEO DJ Koh in front of journalists at MWC '18.

The news come mere two days after the announcement of Samsung's latest flagships – the Galaxy S9 and S9+, at which DJ Koh took a significant part. When asked by reporters about the name of the next Galaxy smartphone, Mr. Koh answered that it might get a name change, but it will for sure keep the "Galaxy" branding.

Despite being far away from an announcement, this has not been the only rumored aspect of the next Galaxy flagship. There were suggestions that the phone could sport a foldable display, an in-screen fingerprint scanner and have a Neural Processing Unit to handle any complex AI and 3D processing required.

Could Samsung follow Apple in smartphone naming and give us the Galaxy X next year? What could be other potential names for the next Samsung flagship? Leave your much appreciated suggestions down below.

Last year Samsung copied LG by stealing their 18:9 screen idea, next year they will copy LG again by changing the name of their flagship line. However, this probably signifies the fact that the Galaxy S10 will be a radical departure from the current S9. Samsung was probably caught with the pants down by the iPhone X but they did not have time to match it with the Galaxy S9, the S10 will be the true match for the new iPhone X series.

No one copied the 18:9 idea, it was becoming the new standard so most companies are jumping to it. S8 is a match for the functionless iPhone X
