Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-orders come with free Gear VR, big discounts on AKG headphones, 256GB microSD card

Samsung has just kicked off pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and announced the incentives that will go along with it. The South Korean company decided to throw in some free stuff just like it did last year when the S7 and S7 edge were announced.

So, starting March 30 and through April 20, customers who pre-order either of the two flagships will also receive a Gear VR headset with Controller for free, as well as some Oculus content as a bonus.

However, if that's not enough for you, then Samsung has another sweet deal for those who want to go big when purchasing the Galaxy S8. For $99, you can add a pair of premium headphones by AKG and a 256GB memory card.

The $99 promo bundle is available for a limited time and contains the following items: Samsung Gear VR with Controller ($130), AGK headphones ($150) and Samsung 256GB micro SD card ($250).

Basically, customers who purchase the Galaxy S8 could get the promo bundle worth of $530 for just $99, which seems like a great deal. Keep in mind that in order to benefit from the offer you'll have to submit proof of purchase to Samsung. The items in the promo bundle should show up on your order soon after that.

Just finished my pre-order, can't wait to get the phone. Haven't been this excited for a device in a long time and the freebies are just icing

How sad for company to have to give away freebies before the phone is even released to make sales. Obviously they know the phone is going to be a huge flop.

Things like this are part of what keeps making Samsung's high prices easy to justify compared to lower priced competition...keep it up Samsung, really looking forward to the Note 8.

having a problem pre-ordering on the tmobile website. It forces me to log-in and when I do, it says my device is eligible for upgrade please call or visit a tmobile store. It will not allow me to buy it without doing a trade in. I am not looking to trade in my current phone. Anyone else experience this?

No, I ordered from the T-MOBILE website pretty easily, no issues

Can you get the $99 bundle on Tmobile website? I couldn't find it

I would suspect it's because you are on jump on demand. If you are sales over the phone can do it or in store. Can't do jump on demand online.

I bought the lg v10 outright at full cost when it launched. I am enrolled in the insurance plan but it shouldn't be jump on demand. I am guessing the system can't tell the difference? I looked at the samsung website cause i figured it might be easier but i dont see the optino for the $100 headphone + sd card package

Then you aren't on jump on demand and it should let you. That is weird. That 256gb is very tempting. I do see it on their site but says; Already ordered? Once you receive your new Galaxy S8 or S8+ come back here to register for this offer.

If i purchase from samsung would it still be eligible for tmobile insurance or does it have to be purchased directly from tmobile? I am reading the fine print from samsung's website....if you get the $99 headphone + sd card package you lose the free VR headset, is that correct? Seems like you have to chose between the two

Not much information if you'd get both or one or the other. I wish they'd give more info about the promo. I did a chat with a tmobile rep and they said insurance will only be available if the phone is purchased from them...

It appears to be an add-on when you redeem your gift...i am guessing when you redeem it, it will give you an option to choose and pay $99 opt for that package instead of the vr headset

Order it in store, so the rep in store can make commission and you still get the same exact deal lol...PLEASE =D

I had the same choices in my Tmo account, so I just went and ordered it on the Samsung website. I'm glad I did, because I then remembered that last year when I got the Note 7 (pre-order as well) and had it shipped to my local Tmo store for pickup, they charged me $25 for in-store service fee and wouldn't waive it. You are better off ordering directly from Samsung.

If you're part of the JUMP program, you may have to trade in your current phone in order to get the S8 or S8+

Do you have to pre order through Samsung or can it be from the carrier and take advantage of the bundle?

The S8 is the first phone with Bluetooth 5.0. They should have included a pair of 5.0 Bluetooth headphones instead of these AKGs.

Which bluetooth headphones support bluetooth 5.0 right now? How can Samsung include bluetooth headphone, when there are NONE bluetooth 5.0 available right now?

The 99$ bundle promtions doesnt includes GearVR and just AKG + 256GB EVO+ Micro SD Card. GearVR is free in a limited time when pre ordering S8/S8+ now.

You have some time to do the promo anyway, you need the phone in hand to register for which option you wanna go with on the Samsung Promotion site. The $99 bundle for the bluetooth headphones/256GB mSD card and new Gear VR with the controller is a really good deal vs just taking the free new Gear VR with controller. I bet that $99 bundle goes fast! Tmo told me the phone will ship on 4/19 next day shipping.

Based on the way it is written, it seems like if you opt for the $99 headphones/sd card you don't get the vr headset.

They edited the wording on the tmobile website. Yesterday it said OR..today it says PLUS. Get the Gear VR with Controller and Oculus Bonus Content—FREE, when you pre-order. Plus, add premium headphones by AKG and a 256GB memory card for just $99. Looks like we might be able to get both.
