The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017)

Samsung is rolling out the February security patch for its Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017) devices. The smartphones follow the already updated Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 and Galaxy A5 (2017) to be of the first receiving the fixes.

The Korean company rolls out security improvements every other month, tackling numerous security based issues. February's patch includes all the changes from the Android Security Bulletin, fixing six crucial vulnerabilities found in Android. The Samsung Security patch will also fix 16 vulnerabilities found in Samsung's software.

As per usual, we expect to see the update rolling out on the mid and lower-range devices first, and then gradually make its way onto the flagships.

My J7 2016 security updates were abandoned by Samsung in July 2017 and got stuck on android 6. Never going to buy a Samsung phone ever again.

Not trying to be an *ss, but you get what you pay for. You want updates for a decent amount of time, buy a flagship.

...if you can actually call "decent update" the almost six month delay of Android 8.0 for the Galaxy S8 and its subsequent delay due to severe reboot bug.

I don't disagree, but I wasn't speaking on the timeliness of the updates. Samsung is notoriously slow about rolling them out. I don't think there's a ton of debate about that. The point I'm making is that you will get them (for the flagships) & you will get them for at least 2 years.
