The crowdsourced cabby service Uber issued a press release, detailing a partnership with none other than Samsung, resulting in a generous promo offer to get them hooked on the cheapo urban transportation solution.
Newly-minted owners of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge phones just have to fire up the Galaxy Gifts promo widget, get Uber’s app, and will be in for a sweet $25 ride discount added to their accounts. As per Lars Fjeldsoe-Nielsen, VP of mobile at Uber: "We are excited about the combination of Samsung’s reach and Uber’s global footprint — in 300 cities across 56 countries — that means riders around the world can get wherever they need to go, whenever they choose with the simple touch of a button.” Here's how exactly the deal will work, according to Uber's blog post:

- Go to Galaxy Gifts on a Samsung Galaxy S6 or other Uber enabled handset.
- Download the Uber app and sign up.
- A $25 discount (in the US) is automatically added to the phone’s Uber account.
- Tap the Uber button and take a ride.
This is not Uber's first foray into mobile partnerships, as it has signed deals with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and O2 Telefonica in Europe, but landing on every Galaxy S6 might just be its biggest promo break in mobile so far.
