Picture of HTC Holiday shows unit running on AT&T's LTE pipeline
So just how fast is AT&T's LTE network? The carrier is still building out its LTE pipeline, but a picture of the HTC Holiday using the SpeedTest.Net app shows that the phone is running at a download speed of 29Mbps with a 6.43Mbps upload speed. As we reported, the HTC Holiday is expected to be AT&T's first LTE enabled phone with a possible launch coming later this month (more on that later).

The device is certainly chock full of high-end specs starting with the 4.5 inch qHD display and the 1.2GHz dual-core processor under the hood, along with 1GB of memory. Two cameras grace the unit, one in the back and one in the front weighing in at 8MP and 1.3MP respectively. Android 2.3.4 will be installed on the phone out of the box, with HTC Sense 3.0 running on top.

No pricing or launch date has been released by AT&T, although a recent comparison chart in the Sprint Playbook, as we informed you, hinted that the unit would launch at roughly the same time as Sprint's Samsung Epic 4G Touch, which is later this month.

Will our supposed 4g phones ie inspire 4g and infuse 4g work on this LTE network?

they are hspa+ phones...some consider that to be 4g but its not lte...from my understanding the phone should has some kind or radio that will allow 4g but I think its not lte though.

You are correct! The current 4G phones on AT&T's lineup only offer the hspa+ service. This is considered 4G thanks to the FCC making an adjustment to the definition of a 4G network earlier this year. These Devices however, will not be able to use the LTE network AT&T is putting out because they do not have LTE Radios installed in them to pick up the faster LTE signal.

this is why AT&T was the last carrier to announce 4G when in fact it isnt!! HSPA+ is not considered 4G, its more like 3.5G and most people dont realize that. I have the INspire from AT&T and i couldve waited for the LTE phones...but i like what i have and id rather for the LTE pipeline to be up and running for a while b4 i consider going to LTE. I like the Jetstream, but no way in HELL im buying it for $700 w/ contract

The existing at&t phones will not be compatible with the LTE network because they don't have LTE radios. You will need to by their up-incoming LTE phones such as the HTC Holiday or the supposed Atrix 2 to get the LTE speeds.

Does anyone realize that the phone only has one bar and the AT&t LTE network isn't fully deployed yet??? :P Once its out I'm sure we will be seeing even greater speeds.

You are just a att hater. Is 30 Mbps not fast enough for you? Keep in mind it's not officially live not to mention it's getting that speed with one signal bar. You are the type of person that would bitch if it was faster by saying it's an empty network. Let me guess you have VZ and get 60 Mbps on a regular bases.

Haters will always hate. My home internet isn't even that fast... need to bump up my interest speed soon. I am happy with the speed I am getting with Matrix as now so that would just be amazing for me in the future with lte phone

Well, if you look at the Sprint comparison chart it has the HTC Holiday listed as HSPA+. So, either Sprint doesn't know that it is going to be LTE enabled or this may be a prototype used to test the network?

There's no one on their LTE network, and they're only getting 30 Mbps?? On my Droid Charge in Portland I get 30 Mbps almost all the time. Never below 20. AT&T could've done better.

@codymws ugh cody I don't know if ur BLIND DID U LOOK AT THE PIC? IT ONLY HAS 1 FREAKING BAR OF SERVICE AND IT GOT 30 MBPS WITH ONE f**kING BAR. NOW IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD GET WITH FULL RECEPTION? ALSO I DOUBT IT THAT ON UR DROID CHARGE U GET 30 MBPS WITH 1 BAR.. BECAUSE I ALSO LIVE IN PORTLAND AND ON MY DROID CHARGE IN PLACES WITH 1 BAR THE HIGHEST I HAVE GOTTEN IS 9 MBPS..... WITH FULL RECEPTION OBVIOUSLY ITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY even WITH FULL RECEPTION I NEVER GOTTEN MORE THAN 30 ...... NOW IMAGINE IF THIS PHONE GOT 30 WITH 1 BAR IMAGINE WITH FULL RECEPTION? IM PRETTY SURE IT WILL LEAVE THE DROID CHARGE BEHIND .. I admit Verizon is good and all and I love there service but I never gotten 30 mbps with 1 bar of reception .. I bet ur just jealous dnt hate on att cuz there LTE network is and will probably be faster than Verizon's LTE network ..

I'm torn between this and the GS2!! This is LTE, GS2 is only HSPA+. They both have 1.2 Ghz dual cores. This is qHD and GS2 is Super Amoled Plus, which is better imo. This is 4.5" and GS2 is 4.3", which I prefer the smaller screen size. I live in NY and I think AT&T is releasing LTE here in their next bunch of cities. I just wish I knew WHEN this phone was coming out. I really would like a dual-core LTE phone even though I've been waiting for the damn GS2 for months.
