PhoneArena game of the week: Radiation Island

Let's start off the week with some fun! We're kicking off a weekly column that we plan to publish on Mondays to present you with our favorite game of the week. We've set no limits to the genre, platform, or price, but as all things 'favorite', the PhoneArena game of the week choice will be subjective.

One thing that our game of the week pick won't be, though, is of poor quality. We can't guarantee that you'd love the genre of the game we've picked, but it should be a good choice for those who do. With no further ado, the game that gets the honor of being featured this week is Atypical Games' Radiation Island for iPhone and iPad.

Stranded in an alternate reality, explore an open world filled with danger

This surprisingly affordable survival adventure puts you in the role of a hero stranded in the alternate reality of a mysterious world. It’s an open environment for you to roam and explore (and you can even swim and dive in the waters), but it’s also a dangerous world where you’d encounter wild animals, and then see abandoned villages infested with zombies. The realistic experience is only further enhanced by the full night and day cycle that the game follows.

Radiation Island is fully optimized for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and is built with Metal, Apple’s new graphics API. The game looks best on the Apple A7 and A8 chips (that can use Metal), but you can play it on a phone as old as the iPhone 5. You can also unlock multiplayer for an additional adrenaline boost.
