Orange France seeks to launch 6 Android models this year

According to the French site Mobinaute, carrier Orange France plans on launching 6 Android handsets in 2009, including the HTC Hero which was discovered in the phone manufacturer's 2009 road map previously leaked in January. Ambitious plans, oui? The plans show that the carrier will offer devices from LG, HTC, Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson. So far, Orange has one device in their line-up running the open source Google OS, the HTC Dream which is the same as the G1 model. The next Android phone is expected to be the Hero followed up a few weeks later by another Android powered HTC handset with a different form factor. The carrier also has told customers to expect the Cupcake update for Dream owners in late April with a second update in May. The carrier is expected to heavily promote the Android Marketplace as they are happy with the revenue they receive from their split of the 30%of the Marketplace's revenue that goes to Google and the mobilecarriers.
