Update is coming to fix the flickering screen issue on the OnePlus 6
Exactly one week ago today, we told you that some OnePlus 6 users were complaining that their screens were flickering under bright lights. Affected users had the adaptive brightness enabled, and noticed that the flickering was happening whenever they made slight movements. Some described this flickering as a battle between two brightness levels for control of the display, and said that it seemed more noticeable on content with a white background, or those with bright colors.

We mentioned that OnePlus was reaching out to OnePlus 6 users complaining about the issue on Reddit, seeking logs with recordings of the flickering screens. On Friday, OnePlus posted some welcome news on its blog. The next OTA update for the OnePlus 6 will include optimization for the adaptive brightness feature, which should end the flickering problem.

OnePlus says that the update will be rolling out soon, and the August Android security patch is due to be released shortly. Most likely, you'll see OnePlus kill two birds with one OTA update shortly.
