OnePlus 6 gets a fix for the battery drain issue, but only in China
The last update OnePlus pushed out to its latest flagship smartphone brought a bug that made the battery drain faster than normal. Many OnePlus 6 owners turned to the company's forums to complain about the issue, and it looks like an update that's meant to address it is now available for download.

However, the fix for the battery drain problem has been included in the HydrogenOS 5.1.10 update only, a build that's aimed at the Chinese version of the OnePlus 6. Still, this is a clear indication that the international model will get a similar update very soon as well.

In the meantime, it's worth noting that this is a rather small update that weighs in at 76MB and includes a couple of other fixes for known issues, such as the problem of unsupported games on the 18:9 aspect ratio display, and the low sensitivity of the tap to wake up function.

Although the changelog doesn't mention anything about fixing the battery issue, many OnePlus 6 owners claim the battery life improved considerably after updating to HydrogenOS 5.1.10. So, here is hoping the international version of the OnePlus 6 will get the fix sooner rather than later.

I'm already getting 7-8 hours SoT on 5.1.8. Not sure what crazy will happen after this update.

Hey so you went with OP 6. How is it going? I am still undecided on getting one. I am waiting for Asus Zenfone 5Z, Note 9, Asus ROG to launch to make a decision. I can at max spend ₹50K if these devices provide substantial benefits than OP 6 or maybe I save money by getting OP 6 this year and get new 7nm touting smarphone from 2019. What would you suggest

You asked a lot of questions, so the answer is a bit long. Please bear with it: The Note 9 will cost around 70k, and the ROG phone won't be released in India most likely, and even if it does, will cost above 60k. So below 50k, you have 3 choices: go with the honor 10, Oneplus 6 or wait for the Xiaomi mi8/5z. Go with the honor 10 if you either like EMUI or you need 128GB storage, since honor 10 gives 128GB storage for 33k. But it lacks headphone jack, bad software, camera, and old SoC. For the mi8, I was actually waiting for it until I realised a few things. First of all, Xiaomi doesn't assemble the phones in India, which means it will be affected by the recent import duty hike on phones that got introduced this year. This can already be seen using their redmi note 5 pro price this year, which is much higher than China. So don't expect mi8 to be priced below 35k either. And even if they do release it, they will have flash sales, which is a degrading buying experience for me. Also, the mi8 lacks a headphone jack, A/B seamless updates, 'ok google' detection when the phone is off, and comes with MIUI which I hate. Not to mention that android updates are a lot slower than Oxygen OS and the community support is a lot lower on XDA. Below 50k, you only have Oneplus 6 as a decent option in India. And it's a nice phone. Waiting for mi8 to be maybe released is not a very good option, as Xiaomi will have to match the price of the Oneplus 6, since they can't match same pricing as in China(since Oneplus assembles phones in India). You can wait for 5z but the camera is pretty okay I heard and it comes with an LCD screen. Plus their software is not something I like. Regarding my experience, it's been rather good. The notch doesn't bother me, since it's pretty small and oneplus takes good care of it in apps. The camera is about on par with iPhone X, but can't match S9 or pixel 2. But what makes me choose this phone is the software. It's very close to stock android and gets very good support on XDA as well as Oneplus as well. Plus, Oneplus is the only OEM I know which doesn't void your warranty on rooting or flashing. The phone is water resistant as well, which is a nice bonus in rains or if it gets wet. Also, it comes with 1 year free insurance in case of screen damage. The 5z should be the only phone you should wait for (I think it's getting released this week only ). If it's priced at 30k or below, I think it can be a valid contender if you like Asus's software. Else, Oneplus 6 is a pretty good choice. My plan is to sell it next year in mint condition for 25k or so, and buy something new. I noticed that second year the phone's value degrades faster, so one year upgrades are actually cheaper! Please let me know if you want to know something else.

Thanks for taking time and answering me. How about if I go with iPad Pro 10.5 this year and delay the purchase for cellphone next year when new generation 7nm SOCs come. But the issue is I am not getting a good bargain for iPad Pro 256 GB FOR 50K. After reading your comment only Asus ROG and Samsung Galaxy Notr 9(if they improved on their Exynos) interests me. I can add another 15k to 50k if I can sell my Oneplus 3 for around ₹15K. The only issue I have with Oneplus following my experience is rapid degradation of it's battery after 1 year. I didn't face this issue with my Oneplus One which I still own which has hold up about 87% capacity according AccuBattery while Oneplus 3 only shows around 78% of it original capacity. Reagarding Asus ROG I believe it's coming to India in late September have read it in two or more reports probably fueled by their late interest in Indian market
