New app guarantees horizontal photos and videos from the camera on your Apple iPhone or iPad
A new app for the Apple iPhone and the Apple iPad, Horizon, guarantees that the video you're shooting, or the photo you're taking with the device's camera, is shot horizontally. With the app, it doesn't matter how you are holding the phone or tablet while you use the camera. You can switch back and forth between portrait and landscape while filming a video and no one would even notice. Using the app eliminates those vertical videos with the black bars on the sides. Eliminating that ugliness alone is worth the 99 cents that Horizon costs.

What makes the app work is the gyroscope on the phone and the tablet. The app supports the Apple iPhone 4s and higher, and the third generation Apple iPad or higher. For all of the supported devices, resolutions of 1920x1080, 1280x720, 640x640, 640x480 and 480x480 are available. For the Apple iPhone 4s and the Apple iPad 2, only 640 x 480 and 480 x 480 are available.

The app also supports aspect ratios of Square 1:1, Wide 16:9 and Standard 4:3. It also comes with 8 'fun' filters and allows you to share your photographic masterpieces through your favorite social networks. And yes, the app can be disabled just in case you are tired of the horizontal orientation. If you're interested in Horizon, you can learn more by clicking on the video below.

People should just make it a habit to shoot in horizontal. Problem solved, and it costs $0!

They should implement a system where Siri and Google now is activated every time a person tries to record a video in portrait mode. Both of these system would begin insulting the user as soon as they would start recording in portrait mode.

*What kind of idiot wouldn't rotate their phone 90 degrees to record a video? I can answer my own question. You!

* You inconsiderate jerk. Can't you record these videos in the proper angle for the people who may have to see your videos on the news stations?

* I give up, don't record anymore videos. (Camera feature disabled.)

It would make these voice systems much more useful.
