New Galaxy S7 family member uncovered? Model could be a possible Galaxy S7 Sport
Every time a new Samsung Galaxy flagship rolls around, we find ourselves wondering about what sort of related handsets Samsung might also release. This year we started things off with a pair of twins: the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. But would those two soon be joined by other models? Maybe a Galaxy S7 mini? What about a Galaxy S7 Active? There's been a good amount of evidence pointing to that latter phone recently, from Samsung itself admitting the model's existence, to leaked pics of actual hardware. Today we're checking out what could be another member of the Galaxy S7 family, and possibly a phone closely related to the GS7 Active.

We're talking about Samsung's model SM-G880, as revealed a few days back by an Indian import database as a handset currently under development.

Remember, the Galaxy S7 itself is model G930, the Galaxy S7 edge is model G935, and it's looking like the Galaxy S7 Active will emerge as model G891.

So what does that make this new phone? Well, one theory suggests that we could be looking at the next generation of the old Galaxy S5 Sport, which itself was Samsung model G870; if AT&T gets the GS7 Active, as it's looking it will, could Sprint end up with this G880 as a Galaxy S7 Sport?

It's a nice theory, but far from a certainty from this point. All we know is that pricing (as revealed through the customs value declaration) seems relatively consistent with the GS7 Active, so we're likely looking at another model of the same caliber. But this could easily be an all-new Galaxy S7 variant instead of a continuation of the Sport line – we'll just have to keep an eye out for any new evidence to help us narrow things down some.

WHY?! Why do they keep coming out with the same phone over and over for AT&T and call it "sport" - why not just let it be. It's ugly, shameful, and just gross.

So, adding color to the active=sport, I thought Apple was a scumbag at doing these things, but I guess Samsung is no better. Actually, this is just normal, any company pushing out a new product, will try to make their product attracting at first, after they have a firm ground, they will become less attractive but more profitable. Apple has been doing this for the last 2 years, because they have a strong fan and user base, who will always buy iPhones. Now, it's Samsung's turn, they will start milking money from their user base. I am actually more interested in the new Nexus coming out later this year, which should be interesting.

Its not actually same. Active version will be likely exclusive to AT&T so it might be for others. But still it should not have been made seperately. But main difference is that this phone is still on par with flagships of current times. iPhone do not.

HTC will likely ruin Nexus. Do not get me wrong but they will likely just launch a HTC 10 with stock UI. (just my expectation, could be an awesome innovative beast). LG's last year nexus was a beast. Lets see if it matches.

WRONG, apparently you cannot read. They even stated above the sport would be a similar version just for sprint like the s5 active + s5 sport. AT&T has exclusive rights in the states for the s5 active, s6 active and most likely the s7 active. They pay big bucks for this. So for another carrier to get it they ask Samsung to Re brand the phone to Sx Sport and MAYBE change one small feature do they too can have the phone and their OWN exclusive version. Get it? TL:DR .....Your an idiot, research the topic at hand before you start spewing mindless babble.

So a better looking less rugged than Active with software bundle. Why not add the bundle to Active? I would like to see a mini version if it has similar specs at 4.7 inch 720p screen with a price cut.

Why can't these phones have the same design as the s4 active that one was ok looking at least

I prefer the Galaxy S6 Active, but remember that this is the Sport. The Sport was exclusive to Sprint, and as you can see ... it wasn't the best looking phone. But again, remember the Active is AT&T exclusive and the Sport is for Sprint.

I would love to see something more practical/functional/durable over the premium looking.
