After an official teaser and a massive leak, the launch of Motorola’s first passport-style foldable seemed to be only a matter of time, even though there’s no official announcement yet. However, a new leak may have confirmed its name and key specs, revealing the foldable iPhone and Galaxy Z Fold 8 won’t need to worry, at least when it comes to specs.
Geekbench test confirms the Razr Flex 27 name and chipset
Motorola’s entry to the passport-style trend is most likely going to be called the Razr Flex 27 or Razr Flex 2027. This name has been spotted in a Geekbench test of the device, and fits the naming scheme of the company’s devices in North America.
The benchmark run also confirmed earlier rumors that the device may feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which appeared in other rumors. This processor is paired with 12GB of RAM, with the device running Android 17.

In the benchmark run, the Razr Flex 27 recorded a single-core score of 2,669 and a multi-core score of 8,837. However, the test was done with the Geekbench 6 benchmark, so its results are not comparable with the ones in the newer Geekbench 7 test.
Earlier rumors claimed that the device will have only one configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone may get a 5,000 mAh battery with support for Qi2 charging with up to 25W.

Probably the most exciting thing about the Razr Flex 27 is the smaller size, compared even to the Z Fold 8 and the iPhone Duo. The device is rumored to get a 6.92-inch inner display, and a 4.97-inch outer screen, with 2364x1728 pixels and 1140x1736 pixels resolution, respectively. The inner display is also expected to have a 165Hz refresh rate.
Size-wise, both the iPhone Duo and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 are larger than this, featuring 7.6-inch internal screens. However, the foldable iPhone has a 5.4-inch external display, while the Z Fold 8 features a 5.5-inch cover screen. Both models offer flagship specs, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and up to 16GB of RAM on the Z Fold 8, and the A20 Pro with 12GB of RAM on the Duo.
Considering the more modest specs, it’s very likely that the Razr Flex 27 will be noticeably cheaper than the iPhone Duo and the Z Fold 8, which start at $1,999 and $1,899 respectively.
Motorola may also bet on cool colors
The Razr Flex is also expected to get a dual 50MP cameras on its back, alongside two 32MP selfie cameras on the two displays. While its body is said to carry IP48 and IP49 ratings, its colors may end up the most interesting thing about it.
The device has leaked in Pantone Coriander and Pantone Dark Botanical Garden colors. While the coriander one is a neutral earthy color, the other option appeared to be a nice, deep green in leaked renders.
Great move from Motorola
It appears that passport-style foldables are all the rage right now, but unless there’s a cheaper alternative, I wouldn’t expect them to turn mainstream anytime soon. This is why I think Motorola’s idea to launch a more affordable foldable in this shape could be the smartest move this year. Rumor has it that we’ll need to wait until mid-December to get the Razr Flex 27 officially, and I hope it’ll be worth it.
