Motorola DROID 3 shows up on GLBenchmark 2.0 online test
The Motorola DROID 3 has yet to be introduced although the GSM version of the phone, the Motorola Milestone 3 has been officially outed in China. As we reported, Verizon is rumored to be launching the DROID 3 on July 7th and a look at some of the phone's GLBenchmark 2.0 online results might increase the anticipation for the release of the model.

On the more demanding hardware oriented Egypt test of GL Benchmark 2.0, the Motorola DROID 3 finished second with only the LG Optimus 3D ahead of it. The TI dual-core OMAP 4430 1GHz processor obviously meshes well with the PowerVR SGX 540 GPU. The resulting score for the DROID 3 put it above some other powerhouses like the HTC Sensation, the HTC EVO 3D and the model's stablemate the Motorola DROID X2. On a second test that gives more importance to software, the Motorola DROID 3 finished fifth as the LG Optimus 3D again was on top with the aforementioned HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 3D second and third respectively.

For those who don't need 4G connectivity, the Motorola DROID 3 is shaping up as a strong contender, especially for those who like to have a physical QWERTY on their phone. Of course, Verizon customers have the shadow of the Motorola DROID Bionic staring them in the face. This device has achieved a mythical status and many Big Red customers have been known to exclaim, "Nah Dude! I'm waiting for the Bionic" when asked if they were planning on updating to one of the carrier's currently available models. But now that the Motorola DROID 3 has shown that it can play with the big boys, there might be some more potential buyers of the handset awaiting the rumored July 7th launch of the model.
