Microsoft Surface Pro 3 price and release date

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 price and release date
Microsoft’s largest tablet so far (and one of the biggest tablets available on the market), the Surface Pro 3, has just gone official with big ambitions to replace both your laptop and tablet in a one device for work and play. The 12-inch Surface Pro 3 is unlike most other tablets on the market that are based on ARM chips - instead it runs on a laptop-grade 4th generation Intel Core chips, a configuration much more powerful than most tablets available right now.

With this huge power, however, comes a higher than usual price for a tablet. Microsoft has unveiled prices for the different version of the Surface Pro 3 that it will sell, and here’s what you’d need to prepare, if you want to get one.

Surface Pro 3 - Estimated retail price (USD)
  • 4th gen Intel® Core™ i3, 64 GB and 4 GB of RAM - $799
  • 4th gen Intel® Core™ i5, 128 GB and 4 GB of RAM - $999
  • 4th gen Intel® Core™ i5, 256 GB and 8 GB of RAM - $1,299
  • 4th gen Intel® Core™ i7, 256 GB and 8 GB of RAM - $1,549
  • 4th gen Intel® Core™ i7, 512 GB and 8 GB of RAM - $1,949

Microsoft did not name a particular Surface Pro 3 release date, but pre-orders are starting tomorrow, May 21 at 12:01 a.m. EDT. You’ll be able to pre-order yours at Microsoftstore.com, Microsoft retail stores, as well as third-party retailers.

The Surface Pro Type Cover and Surface Pen will go up for pre-order at the same time.

With this you don't need tablet, nor laptop. Its both and does both well and better in many areas. Its a dream tool for a professional designer, office people etc. In few years when the price drops little bit more it can become mainstream. Right now its for business, professional people, rich people and I want it geeks.

Its not a tablet with 1000$ price. Dont act clueless. It has SAME specs as high end ultrabooks who go for same price or who are more expensive. It has better specs than macbook air and better price. Its also priced similarly with other windows ultrabooks. Its form factor is tablet yes, but spec wise no. Plus it becomes ultrabook etc.

Trolling wont get you any respect. Stating facts and subjective opinions will. For example xbox one isnt a failed product. Its doing well considering its more expensive than PS4 and its available in 30 something less countries than PS4, its doing well, just not as well as PS4. Also surface pro is aimed at professionals or rich people, and its not aimed for mass consumption like some cheap 400$ laptops. So it cant fail, its here to showcase MS technologies and design and its doing it well. It kicks macbook air ass in terms or price/specs and with proper marketing it might even do well in terms of sales.

I agree with everything but the Xbox One comment... So far it is failing. It had a strong initial start and unlike the 360 didn't have supply constraints; however the system has since dropped like a rock. They appear to have almost no vision for the system having dropped everything that differentiated it from the PlayStation 4 to the point that it is just an underpowered PlayStation. Their biggest seller failed to hit a million on the Xbox One, even with the massive marketing and the PlayStation being available in more places is not a good reason. Historically those places haven't bought Xbox products in the past and this will be no different.

How on earth is this a "fail product"? The specs are inline with other products, and it has a pretty darn premium package.

I7 8gb ram 512gb-$1949. Thats overpriced considering that it has no dedicated GPU other than that crappy intel"HD". And wtf i7 in 9mm, definately an microwave, even with Haswell. Fail in my book.
