Xiaomi has been bragging about MIUI 8 for a few months now, but the Chinese company did not manage to release it until now. The revamped MIUI 8 was teased back in April and officially unveiled one month later, but the final version never reached Xiaomi smartphones.

Today, the company confirmed it has started the global rollout of MIUI 8 for the Redmi Note (both 3G and 4G models), Mi 4i, Redmi 1S and Mi 2/2S. Also, some Redmi Note 2 and Redmi 2 users should receive the update as well, but not all of them.

MIUI 8 should be pushed to all Redmi Note and Mi 4i devices, as well as some Redmi Note 2 and Redmi 2 users, by August 25. Other Xiaomi smartphones will receive the update in the weeks to follow.

While we don't know when exactly the update will arrive on other Xiaomi models, at least we know which one should get it. Here is the full list of devices that will receive MIUI 8 at some point: Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi 5, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Mi 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 2 and Redmi 1s.

Xiaomi hasn't been specific on whether or not MIUI 8 is based on Android Marshmallow, but some of the features have been confirmed to be part of the update.

According to Xiaomi, those who upgrade to MIUI 8 will able to use many new features implemented such as the option to take scrolling screenshots, along with the ability to sign into two different WhatsApp accounts on the device.

Aside from the MIUI 8 global stable ROM, Xiaomi also released the Chinese version of the ROM, which is available for download beginning today as well.
