LG is not sure about G7's notch, asks fans what they think
The more people jump in the “hate the notch” bandwagon, the more companies announce that their future products will include one, which is a bit ironic. OnePlus is the most recent example of a company that is trying to convince its fans that “the notch is here to stay.”

After confirming the OnePlus 6 will include the notch, the company's CEO and co-founder Carl Pei was forced to delete one of its tweets praising the feature following fans backlash.

Well, it appears that what happened with OnePlus after the company showed its support for the notch has put the competition on the fence. Although LG's flagship is expected to pack the controversial feature, it appears that the South Korean company has turned to Reddit to ask for feedback.

Most of the answers they got in just one hour are overwhelmingly negative towards the notch. Would it be possible for LG to change its mind regarding the implementation of the notch into its upcoming flagship?

I hope that LG made two versions of the G7, one with a notch and one without a notch. Now before production they are asking the public to see which one to deliver!

No notch. Notch isn't a feature, nor does it make a sexy phone.

WRONG! Notch allows great little feature, to have some icons(better by my choice) on the top all of the time. But the notch should be NOT SEEN!!!! NEVER! All the time we should see only thin, black , top bezel , with some icons on it. And the notch hidden there! Notch must never mess up with the browser, home screen, videos, pictures, apps.... Apple just implemented the Notch in the most fuglyest and useless way, to lie with the real screen size. That's what Apple is.

Exactly! This is just what I've been saying. Time & notifications in the top section with a black background. I've seen pics of the g7 implemented this way and it provides more useful space.

Kilinton I agree Apples notch is by far the worst, because it only has a few pixels on either side. So it affects apps a lot more. Plus there isn't even enough space for a battery percentage to be shown. But the notch is a gimmick at best. It's a problem that nobody was looking for, or wanted. Plus if you use any VR or AR headsets like Daydream, Cardboard, Star Wars Jedi Challenge, Mira Prison, or others, then the notch effects the display, because the screen is split in two. So that stuff doesn't work with a notch. Screw the notch. Btw more useful space can be had with a display that has no notch or cutout what so ever.

Isn't that exactly what a thin bezel is?

''Isn't that exactly what a thin bezel is?'' Well it is. But this way you could have some icons(hope, by my choice) on the bezel all of the time. No big deal, but nice little feature. Isn't it? Hope Samsung or LG will implement it right.

I was gonna say "it's a little late to be asking!"...but the idea there might be two versions makes me less cynical.

Make G7 with the design of V10. Front speakers a use better cam sensors. Even midranges from Sony and Motorola have sensors used previously on high ends. Still wonder why PA loves shots from v30, they are fill.of noise and pretty poor WB. Front cam is even worse.

Keep doing what you're doing on the V30! why mess it up? improve that screen quality, thats all that is needed!... and put that FPS under the screen, make it snappy

I think if android fans took a moment to reflect, and accept, that Apple sets the modern day smartphone standards (after creating the modern day smartphone with the original iPhone 10 years ago), the happier they would be. Everything other than an iPhone, is just not the real thing, and there is nothing wrong with that. Android is bringing top tier features to those who can’t afford the real deal.

Nice one Cnour.. I pay essentially the same price as high end iPhones but the difference is my phone isn't handicapped like an iPhone.

If trading build quality, resale value, years of support, and a better experience so you can change launchers and icon packs is considered a handicap, more power to you. BTW, what is a cnour?

Just the tip of the iceberg when comparing an iOS toy to a full featured Android device. You stay safe under Tim's thumb though.

Look any notch is a gimmick more than anything else. Apples notch is by far the worst, because it only offers a few pixels on either side. Also Apple is forcing it's developers to support the notch. Talk about a dictorship of a platform. Btw the better experience is most definitely subjective. Especially when ALL iPhones are single tasking. All Androids are real multitasking and have split screen multitasking. Plus you get a lot more tools and utilities that Apple doesn't have. Not to mention categories like emulators outshine Apple by a mile. Also Apple is missing great VR apps, because Apple went with low resolution displays for far too long. If you only want to work within the confines of what Apple allows you, then that is great for you. But if you want to do more, and have access to more things, then Android is the platform.

Developers should be forced to support the notch. It’s called uniformity, something you won’t see on android. Look at the issues apps are having with the notch on android, instagram for example. Apple having real quality control over the apps in the App Store, unlike the digital ghetto of the play store. I used to be a die hard android fan, but now every time I try to go back, it feels unbelievably ‘cheap’.

At least Nokia & Samsung has better build quality, and nowadays iOS is very sloppy, Android gives you better experience. And I wouldn't praise years of support should that make your device slower. Apple devices have better resale value, I'll give you that.

You know exactly who Cnour is, since you are him. The only thing apple has on high end Androids is more updates. That's because they are always trying to fix the updates before it. You all trash on Android updates being released once a year, will that's because Google doesn't have to keep fixing what they broke like apple updates. You all like apple, great, Some of us like Android and that's great. Just like you , I will stand up for what I like.

Oh please, you're so full of it. Everyone copies the big two (Samsung/Apple) trying to jump on the bandwagon hoping to get a piece of the pie. You really are right in the middle of that RDF aren't you.

It's nice that they actually asked for feedback. The notch wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me. But the lack of headphone jack would.

They're not doing it to be nice, they're testing the market. After all, they want to sell as many phones as they can.

Oh please, please make it without a notch! V30's design was excellent.

It's so stupid thing to ask something like that from people who haven't used one, of course they are against it It's like asking people about new redesign for site which they've been using years. Most will say don't change it, new is lot for worse. When they get used to it they noticed it actually isn't bad at all it might be better too, Im sure same have happened with this site too when they changed layout. People are against the change, it's nothing new. I'm doing that exact same thing, that's why i didn't say good or bad about notch before i actually used one.
