Hugo Barra: Xiaomi Redmi Note will be available internationally starting May
Officially announced earlier today by Xiaomi, the brand new Redmi Note smartphone won’t be a China-only device. Ex-Googler Hugo Barra, who is currently Xiaomi’s Vice President, confirmed that the Redmi Note would be released in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore starting May, and in "other" unnamed markets "very soon thereafter."

According to Hugo Barra, the Redmi Note will be priced as follows: $129 for the version with an octa-core 1.4GHz CPU and 1GB of RAM, and $159 for the model with an octa-core 1.7Ghz CPU and 2GB of RAM. In both cases, the processor is a MediaTek MTK6592. Other (common) features include a MIUI interface on top of Android Jelly Bean, a 5.5 inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, dual SIM and dual stand-by capabilities, microSD card support, a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The new handset comes with a 3,200 mAh battery that should provide enough juice even for hardcore users.

We will be looking forward to seeing if the Xiaomi Redmi Note reaches North America or Europe.
