The Xiaomi Mi MIX is turning heads with its 6.4-inch screen that Xiaomi says takes up 91.3% of the front body. The look has captivated smartphone buyers and the first flash sale featuring the phone resulted in a sell out in just 10 seconds. Other manufacturers are taking note. Just the other day, we passed along a photo reportedly showing an image of a new Meizu phone with a screen that appears to cover about 100% of the phone's body. There are no buttons on the front of the device, and the fingerprint scanner is embedded under the screen.

Today, a weibo post reveals that Huawei is working on something it calls a "Quad-edge screen." It will look like a concept phone and might feature a futuristic appearance. All four sides of the front glass are said to carry a curved-edge look. It would be border-less and bezel-less. The post on weibo suggests that Huawei might produce such a phone under a whole new brand. Another possibility is that it could be developed under Huawei's honor sub-brand.

Speaking of Huawei, a invitation that appeared in China today seems to call for the unveiling of the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro to be held on November 14th, which is a week from today. The Mate 9 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage will be priced at the equivalent of $472 USD. 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage will cost the equivalent of $576 USD. And the top-of-the-line unit with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage will cost the equivalent of $694 USD.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is rumored to be available in two tiers. The model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage will be priced at the equivalent of $679 USD. And it will take the equivalent of $767 USD to purchase the model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
