Huawei P20 and Mate 10 series to receive Android 9.0 Pie soon

Huawei kicked off Android 9.0 Pie beta programs for no less than 9 smartphones last month. The handset maker confirmed the first device to receive the update will be the P20 series, followed by Mate 10.

True to its promise, Huawei is now gearing up for a global Android 9.0 Pie rollout, which might start as soon as this week. Several Huawei smartphones running the new version of Android have been recently certified at Wi-Fi Alliance, which suggests the update is ready to be deployed.

The following smartphones have been spotted at Wi-Fi Alliance: Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei Mate 10, and Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Surprisingly, two phones from the P20 and Mate 10 series are missing from the list – the P20 Lite and Mate 10 Lite, but they might be included in the second wave of devices to be updated to Android 9.0 Pie.

Besides the handsets mentioned above, Huawei plans to deliver Android 9.0 Pie updates to the Mate 10 Porsche Design, Mate RS Porsche Design, Honor 10, Honor V10, and Honor Play.

Although Huawei may start pushing out the Android 9.0 Pie update to the P20 and Mate 10 series very soon, it might take a while for the update to land on all devices across the world, so don't get too excited yet if you own one of these flagships.
