How to change or disable the SIM PIN on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge

Owning a brand new handset with a brand new SIM card inside it will often have you face a PIN unlock security screen on bootup. Now, that's no issue when all the packaging materials are still around you and you have the PIN on hand, but what if you want to change it, or completely remove it on your shiny new Galaxy S6 / edge?

Well, it's not such a hard task, so long as you have your PIN or PUK 1 / 2 codes readily available. If you have already locked yourself out of the card and can't remember where your codes are, the only one who can help you is your carrier. However, if you are merely looking to disable the PIN security lock, or to change the PIN to something that you will more easily remember, read on.
