HTC updates HTC Hub, one step closer to a Sense experience on Windows Phone 7
HTC released an update to its HTC Hub for Windows Phone 7 handsets and the app now has an all-new live tile featuring weather updates. This makes it one step closer to a Sense UI experience on Windows Phone 7 devices. The new live tile shows current weather information along with highs and lows about a pre-defined location right on the start screen, but don't expect the fancy animations in the tile.

Rather than being a huge update, this is more of an indication that HTC is working on customizations for Windows Phone 7. We certainly like WP7 simplistic take on interface, but at the same time we would love some more variety in the looks.

Many have been missing the full visual candy of HTC's Sense UI on Windows Phone 7 and currently the HTC Hub is the only solution. The idea behind preventing custom interfaces, such as the HTC Sense UI, from appearing on Windows Phone 7 has much to do with preventing segmentation. This way Microsoft can roll out updates directly to customers without having to rely on decisions from customization developers or carriers. The unified user experience is also a considerable advantage. But let's wait and see if HTC manages to be the first to bypass it in the future.
