Back in August, HTC promised that its U11 flagship phonewould be updated to Android 8 Oreo before the end of the year. Staying true toits promise, earlier this month, the company started rolling out the Oreoupdate to HTC U11 handsets in Taiwan, and now it's ready to do the same thing for US devices, starting with theunlocked model.

Mo Versi, VP of Product Management at HTC, confirmed that unlockedU11 smartphones in the USwould get Android Oreo beginning Monday, November 27. The update will beavailable as an over-the-air download - it's going to be a sizeable file (over1 GB), so you may want to download it via Wi-Fi instead of using your cellular data.

As for Sprint's variant of the HTC U11, this will be updatedto Oreo "as quickly as possible." Other two HTC smartphones that will getthe latest version of Android in the near future are the HTC 10 and the U Ultra. Unfortunately, for now,HTC doesn't have exact release dates regarding Oreo for these handsets. Butwe'll let you know more as soon as we have official details on this.
